Ash Lawson, the newest addition to the University of Tennessee baseball coaching staff, sits down with UTSports.com to discuss the switch from scouting to recruiting, base running and his favorite baseball memory.

Say what you want about the program and the head man but this guy seems really good!! I just came back from a high school baseball clinic in which he spoke at. He was very informative and approachable about many phases of the game. The man seems to be a wizard on the base paths. I myself have jumped both feet on the Coach Lawson band wagon!! Go Vols!!

My last year (at Tennessee Wesleyan), I had the system in and all the players knew it and we stole 171 bases. There's nothing better than knowing when you execute something right, the other team can't stop you."

Dang.

If he can get his system in place here, that will be a huge advantage. Little things like base running can help less talented teams compete with the Florida's and Vandy's of the world.

take "both feet" off the "base paths" of this thread cause you're a soccer player it looks like....and he is a douche. I hope we don't lose a game this year but he's just another flat billed d bag.

It does. But TWC has always had superior talent in their league. His philosophy isn't that much different than what 99% of programs use.

Ah. Well if they can figure out anything that gives them an advantage, hopefully they will execute it.

Guess it would help to know what he teaches. Sounds like it's some top secret trick or something, lol.

Well back when I knew Ashley he was a douche. Why would Ash be any different?? He's a self promoter that landed a first rounder (Kyler Burke) early in his scouting career. If I were a betting man, I put money that he'll be back in pro ball this time next year. Scoring and base running won't be a problem for the vols this year, but pitching sure as hell will be.

All based upon individual players times. certain ones will have a constant green light. Others depending on pitcher to plate and pop time. Then you have the no go guys.
