Great gameplan by Bruce
Great execution by the team

Yes Vandy shot horribly
but...

team never let them get in a flow of easy shots, they were instructed to cut them off from the goal and they did.
yes vandy got some open looks that is always going to happen...
I think tonights game was a great one for Bruce and the team....one of his best coaching jobs in my opinion and the team played well on the defensive end of the court.

Young guys have learned a lot from last 2 games and it will be showing more and more.....
Scotty, bdub tatum and maze beginning to improve.
no maze didnt do much tonight but he is becoming floor general in a sense as much as he can with Tyler being the leader and growing every day.

The defense played as well as I (personally) have seen them play all year, especially down low on Ogilvy. That guy is pretty talented, and is capable of going for 30/15 if you let him... so it was a good job keeping him contained overall.

Scotty Hopson, the kid has ALL the upside in the world. Whenever he decides that he wants to kill himself on both ends of the floor, you guys are gonna be crazy over this kid. I have noticed several times when he gets beat on the dribble, he just gives up on the play and either tries to poke it out from behind. Hopefully Pearl at some point finally breaks through.

Just some thoughts. Its off to work, check in with you guys later. Great game!

:good!:

Exactly my impression. My only disappointment was in Tabb.

Best part for me was it appears that Bruce has put the brakes on 3 after 3 after 3. Chism hit his first two, and I was afraid he would jack them up all night. He passed up some wide open looks.

I still would have liked to had Chism touch the ball a lot more than he did. He was unstoppable down low. It looks like maybe, just maybe, this team is learning how to play and take coaching.

Considering what we are used to, I give an A+ for defense last night. Ogilvy was a non-factor. Williams gave some valuable minutes last night. My biggest disappointment was the lack of any PG production. What's happened to Bobby Maze?

It will take a much better effort than this to beat Memphis, but at least it looks like we are starting to improve again, instead of regressing.

When Hopson and Prince are able to take it to the rim somewhat, and when we can hit just a couple threes early, we don't need a ton of PG production against most of our SEC foes. Every starter we have can score, and they all can distribute as well.

On the radio broadcast Bert made a great point about this. He said that when Tyler, Scotty, and JP were on the floor together at one point that each of them had an advantage on their man. And he was right.

That was the biggest question for me this year. Was Bruce gonna man up and say "This isn't working, i'm putting a kabosh on the three" or say (Phil style) "Were workin like heck to get the three ball goin for us and well continue to try." To me, that is huge b/c this team (offensively) is hard to beat when they drive the ball to the hole

Chism could have 30-35 had they give him the ball in the 2nd half. Yet Vandy started to double team him, which left the drivers (JP, Scotty) open space.

That was excellent D on Ogilivy, AJ can play and they shut him down. Vandy didn't know what to do. Bobby has hit a wall a little bit, hopefully it will end soon, but his pg this year is better than last years.

The Defense is improving b/c the young guys are getting it...you have to play d to win. I think we can beat Memphis if we take the ball to the hole. Memphis is like Vandy in terms of the fact they can't shoot the 3. And your right this team is improving, not regressing like they were in late december/early january.

Hopson and JP can score 15 a game if they are aggressive and take it to the rim, especially JP w/ the way he works the offensive glass.
