They both got serious fast about getting their program fixed. LSU got real serious about getting their football program “fixed”. And they’ve done it with a serious Title IX

While I’m happy with Heupel, it’s taken 12 years for Tennessee to even appear to begin to get the football program “fixed” due to jacking around with mediocre mid major coaches & a loose cannon SEC DC.

Florida thought they fixed it with Mullen. He's got a better HC resume then their new guy. Time will tell.

What? LSU is a dumpster fire in just about every way, the stupid Title IX **** is the least of their concerns. Its a POS school, like most in today's world. What exactly are you talking about, and what exactly do you think was "fixed"? I would say LSU is making things worse by the day.

Title IX.

I don’t know if Napier is the guy but they damn sure don’t stick with losers very long. Ask Zook, Musky, McElwain & Mullen.

Napier is ballsy that’s for sure. Going into it he knew if he didn’t get them to a championship he’d likely be fired.

Let’s see if he pulls it off.

Are you implying that Tennessee does?

Zook (2002-2004) and McElwain (2015-2017) lasted 3 seasons .... Dooley (2010-2012) and Pruitt (2018-2020) lasted 3 seasons.

Muschamp (2011-2014) and Mullen (2018-2021) lasted 4 seasons .... Jones (2013-2017) lasted 5 seasons.

It's not easy to see what your point is. The only school in the SEC that "sticks with losers very long" is Vanderbilt. It's like you're giving Florida credit for doing what everyone else does.

Same thing with coaches Zook, Muschamp, McIlwain. Gators have pulled the strings on several coaches since Urban Myer...frustrating thing is that they've all owned the Vols on the field. Yikes!:rolleyes:

To make an analogy with basketball, I think it's a Michael White-type hire for them. He'll win a lot of games, but no championships. The consensus opinion from internet Gator forums, is one of disappointment, especially in the aftermath of watching USC poach Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma. Comments such as, "USC did their Christmas shopping at Bloomingdale's ... while we did ours at Target," are in abundance on GatorCountry.com right now.

McElwain won the SEC 2 out of his 3 years there and UF couldn't wait to get rid of him. Imagine if Jones had tripped into the SECCG in '15 or '16. UT would've given him a lifetime contract.

Winning your division doesn't mean your team is that good. See the SEC E from '13- '16.

I think it's mostly "if we pay 50 million to change coaches the new one must be better". It's a crapshoot.

It's kinda like getting divorced and marrying another woman.

It doesn't seem to be in any danger of going out of style, no matter the cost nor results.

Their losers were better than our losers. Half of them went to SEC title games.

Saban disciples normally do not work out well in the SEC...We'll see...

Napier seems like a flat hire. Very uninspiring. That job is 100% recruiting. He doesn't seem prepared for that.

Yeah, I can’t see the future but I give Fla credit, the moment they see things in the wrong direction, they make a move. They don’t wait a year or two.
