Glenn Beck is a simpleton. He has the gift of gab, I'll grant him that, but his entire schtick is elementary level sarcasm. He's the Jerry Seinfeld (whiny "Did you ever wonder why") of talk radio and television.

I predict a major flame out for him. Don't know how (alcoholism, caught with a prostitute, tax evasion), and I don't know when (but I predict its before the next presidential election), but he's going to blow it.

Beck's house shows are wonderful. I would recommend that you find one and get your butt there.

Nah, not the kind of thing you'd wager on, more a hunch, really. He pretends to be the charming southerner with straight talk, but there is something really malevolent at work with him.

You are way off, he is the Howard Stern of politics. He "killed" the puppy on air so the wacko people would go crazy and his football trivia friday's are priceless!

I am surprised you have not called him out for being a mormon.

He's a great deal more sane than the majority of Congress and Obama are.

If Glenn Beck is insane we need more of that insanity.

Sanity - definitely questionable

Funny - he has his moments; like the one I posted. It has some good lines. Other times he's boorish.

Intelligent - debatable.

I find him mildly entertaining and nothing else.

I think his main goal is to be entertaining, and to some extent he succeeds. I would never take his show too seriously.

I like how Neal Boortz describes himself as "taking a serious personality disorder and turning it into a pretty good living", and it fits with your above description of Beck.

Beck is easily 10x more watchable than Olbermann or that fat putz, Ed Schultz.
