Go Bama! I have a good feeling about this game for you guys this w/e, and it won't hurt anyone's feelings here (well almost no one) if you actually win. Bama hands Gators a loss this w/e, 28 - 24 with strong D.

It's hard to pull for either of these teams. Both were caught with huuuge recruiting violations. Florida in the '80s and Alabama in the 90's. Both schools blame the Vols for getting caught (and in Bama's case blame Tennessee for an elaborate setup that includes the Federal Government.)

I won't be pulling for Bama in this game.... instead I'll be pulling for Florida to lose.

The guys playing and even the current coaching staff weren't involved...I think it would be a good lift for a BAMA team who's been the SEC doormat in the West for the past few years. A school with such a rich tradition shouldn't be branded for life b/c of a few knuckleheads. When they're on their game they are arguably one UT's best rivals. I'd like to see them win for a change.

Not me! BAMMER is the one team that I will never pull for. UF will lose to LSU and UGA and maybe another. They should have lost to us. It is our fault that we are in this situation and I will not ask bammer to help me in any way, shape or form. I will hope for 30 over times and then power failure that requires a draw.

Alabama can do the Vols a very big favor this weekend by beating the Gators. And they can also cement themselves as a major contender for the SEC Championship as well.

Well, I dont' know about that, but I do know that I heard Bill Lumpkin, who has been coverng Alabama sports for over 40 years say, "When I first began covering the Tide, I thought Logan Young was on Bear's staff."

Now, I paraphrased, but that's very, very near word for word what Bill said.

I guess we could imagine that Logan was clean back in those days.

I guess I could find a quarter under my pillow from the tooth fairy too.

I'm not going to stake much on either though.

Logan Young has been buying players for Bama for 4 decades. I know, I know, it wasn't against the rules then. Well, if it wasn't wrong, why did they go to such great lengths to hide their actions even way back then.

Men with character don't have to cheat to win.

General Neyland never did.

Of course, he put coaching aside to go answer the call of his country twice during his career, so we know he was a man of character.

To add to OldVol's thoughts

Logan Young has close ties with Mal Moore (AD) and Paul Bryant Jr (overly influential Board of Trustees member).

To suggest that it was just a few I think misses the point that it was likely an ingrained approach that ebbed and flowed over a long time period. It was a running joke about LY's involvement. Means wasn't the first but hopefully he was the last.

As for saying that the rich tradition of Bama is a reason they should come back to prominence - I don't buy it. I believe Bama will be back as a major contender but they must do it like every other team - EARN IT. If Bama fans and officials believe tradition deserves current success then they will fall into the same trap that got them in their current mess.

After living amongst the Bammers for the last several years and hearing the venom and hate they spew (along with the insane conspiracy views), it will be a long time before I could pull for them to win.

All good points, and I must admit I'm not as familiar with all of the dirty dealings as some of you are...either way, I'd still like to see Florida drop one in a close game.

It's a win-win situation for us.

Bama loses, we get to gloat in the face of our most hated rival. (I can't believe it's come to this.)

Florida loses, not only do we get a little sense of fulfillment, but we pull close to even with them in the SEC race. We'd still need them to lose another since they own the head to head.

Just pulled this quote from Tidefans.

"Sorry guys but those of you that are hating on LSU ..dont. If Phil would quit teaching his thugs to hold on last minute TD drives and teach them to act with class period then maybe I can feel sorry for them . Plus just look at what they have done to us off the field over the past 3 yrs. Sorry but the Fulmers are borderline if not full fledged crooked criminals themselves so I dont feel sorry for them. Any other team and I might shed a tear but ...NO... not this time...not any time for UT ever again. This situation is like OJ Simpson getting tied and molested by Micheal Jackson.... legally is it right ? No. Is it fair ? Oh hell yeah !"

If this was an isolated comment from one fan, I'd ignore it. Unfortunately, I've heard this mentality from MANY Bama fans for the last several years. For a school with such tradition and whose fans claim to have "class", it's amazing how much of this crap goes on.

As I said before, due to this prevalence of this type of sentiment - it will be quite a while before I can pull for Bama.

Aye Carumba!! Let's play the darn game, already. Who gives a rat's arse what happened in the past!

We're going to do you a public service and skin some Crocs Sat. Then, we're going to have a great game with the Vols Oct 22, and bring this rivalry back to what it was before the griping on both sides, a great game with great plays. I want to talk about great plays, not who ratted on who or who bought who! What's done is done! We are paying our penalty, and the Crocs paid their debt to the NCAA years ago.

The only good thing about the game is that we get to see one of them loose. But the bad thing is we have to see one of them win. :dunno:

Go preach that over on a bammer board. You guys are the ones that can't let it go. Not us. If you don't cheat you can't be told on.

Well, I will never cheer for bammer to win but I really hope UF loses. Maybe the Gator band will play Rocky Top if they beat them though!

As for the comments on tidefans, they are getting past the point of ignorant. There are always 5 or 6 threads specifically about the Vols. Even on Sundays, after a bammer win, there are more "Phil is fat because.." threads than victory threads. The jealousy needs to end. I respect their tradition and love the rivalry but it is now full-blown obsession!

In case you forgot...
