That's why the casual fan gives a damn. I don't give two flips what the casual fan likes or dislikes. That's one reason I so enjoyed watching the Pistons choke the last gasps of air out of the last quality Celtic teams.(milohimself @ May 30 said:Come on, hat. Pull your nose out of the air. People like watching 300 point basketball games, and football games with 1,000+ yards and 20-run baseball games. The entertainment factor is why people give a damn about sports, anywhere.
Good point. That's the greatness of the Bad Boys. They were shutting down Bird, Magic, Jordan, and Wilkins. That's great defense. If they had played with today's relaxed illegal defense rules, teams would have been lucky to break 70 against them.(tidwell @ May 30 said:Basketball is the one sport I prefer to see high-scoring. I don't mind a good defensive struggle either though when they are defensive struggles instead of offensive ineptness.
:banghead: Uh, no boring to people who don't like defense and constant fouling.(hatvol96 @ May 30 said:Only boring to those who don't understand defense.
Go back and look at the numbers. Those Pistons didn't commit that many flagrant fouls. They simply got their money's worth when they did. I always liked watching them horsecollar Jordan, spike Wilkins to the floor, or punch Bird in the back of the head. They were the first team that didn't cower before the NBA star system. The Bad Boys didn't care who you were. If you attacked the basket, you paid the price.(vol_freak @ May 31 said::banghead: Uh, no boring to people who don't like defense and constant fouling.
The Bulls reign was much more fun to watch than the short lived Pistons one. Don't even start comparing rules for then and now. Half the guys on that team would not have seen the end of the season under todays rules with all of the flagrant fouls. That team was like a bunch of Rasheed Wallace's.
