You knew that Phoenix wasn't going to score 90 pts again.

BTW - How the heck is that the same Boris Diaw that played for the Hawks???

Good question about Diaw.

I really wan't sure the Suns would win this one. I guess I over estimated the Mavs.

I still don't see how the Mavs ever lost with Nash at point guard.

Not like the Suns are now. I don't really remember that well though... That was around the time of my falling out with the Blazers, before I really picked up Dallas as my surrogate team.

I miss the good old days when teams got up and down the floor and didn't just dump into the post on every trip. I remember one year in the late 80s, the Atlanta Hawks were the best defensive team in the league and they gave up right at 100 per night.

It must be really hard on you to be the only one able to identify and fully understand greatness.
A Hall of Fame backcourt, an endless frontcourt rotation, and Aguirre and The Microwave as complimentary scorers. That's greatness by any objective measure.

Come on, hat. Pull your nose out of the air. People like watching 300 point basketball games, and football games with 1,000+ yards and 20-run baseball games. The entertainment factor is why people give a damn about sports, anywhere.

That's why the casual fan gives a damn. I don't give two flips what the casual fan likes or dislikes. That's one reason I so enjoyed watching the Pistons choke the last gasps of air out of the last quality Celtic teams.

Basketball is the one sport I prefer to see high-scoring. I don't mind a good defensive struggle either though when they are defensive struggles instead of offensive ineptness.

Good point. That's the greatness of the Bad Boys. They were shutting down Bird, Magic, Jordan, and Wilkins. That's great defense. If they had played with today's relaxed illegal defense rules, teams would have been lucky to break 70 against them.

Only boring to those who don't understand defense.
:banghead: Uh, no boring to people who don't like defense and constant fouling.

The Bulls reign was much more fun to watch than the short lived Pistons one. Don't even start comparing rules for then and now. Half the guys on that team would not have seen the end of the season under todays rules with all of the flagrant fouls. That team was like a bunch of Rasheed Wallace's.

Go back and look at the numbers. Those Pistons didn't commit that many flagrant fouls. They simply got their money's worth when they did. I always liked watching them horsecollar Jordan, spike Wilkins to the floor, or punch Bird in the back of the head. They were the first team that didn't cower before the NBA star system. The Bad Boys didn't care who you were. If you attacked the basket, you paid the price.

That can go too far. When Bell horsecollared Bryant, he just about broke his neck.

No he didn't. Kobe was fine afterwards. It was a flagrant foul if I've ever seen one, but it wasn't hard by any stretch.

Sounds like fundamental defense if you ask me.

Just think how much more you would have enjoyed it if they used lead pipes, knives or brass knuckles...

The idea of Isiah Thomas hitting Larry Bird with a tire iron is very appealing to me.
