unless you're rallying people to march on A&M's campus through this.....a message board thread won't do anything

SEC!!!!! Would much rather be with a good group of Americans than with a bunch of tree hugging, birkenstock wearing, arrogant, communists. (The more and more I think about it, tu IS a perfect fit with the left coast.)

Stay with the rest of the Texas schools going to the Pac-10, A&M is a totally worthless addition to the SEC. Won't bring any additional revenue to speak of, not that much access to the state of Texas in all reality, an all-around mediocre athletics department, and nothing special academically. A&M should only be considered because it might include Texas. UTA and OU are the only schools worth bringing on in this whole discussion, everybody else is just riding coat tails.

I agree with on the field product, but isn't this about population/tv/eyes exposure?

Isn't aTm the second largest school in Texas?

A&M would add nothing to the SEC....Let them stay with the other Texas schools and join the Pac16 or whatever they are calling it this week....I say the SEC puts a full court press on some of the ACC teams and maybe WVU....Would make a lot more sense

If the SEC were to add A&M and go to ESPN to renegotiate for more money, do you think the amount would be that substantial? Enough to offset the cost of sending teams that far west to play sports?

Meh... the more I think about it the more I would like them to join the SEC... I posted over there with support.

The more I think about it (assuming Oklahoma and Texas are off to the Pac-10) then the SEC should stand pat. There aren't really any schools left to get that add anything worthwhile for the SEC. The schools might just have to settle with making less TV revenue than the Pac-16 or Big 16.

Right now, given all that is rumored to happen. I'd settle with this:

A&M, Kansas, Maryland/Virginia, Virginia Tech

I'd love to have OU in the SEC. I'm a fan of college football, but if this is about tv exposure, then pretty much anything texas trumps Norman,OKC and Tulsa.

Some of you guys seriously don't get that its about TV sets and not on field performance? Really?

Texas A&M is a better option than any ACC team, other than FSU. Miami isnt coming, they have it too easy in the ACC. If the aggies want to come, let them in. They have tradition and the SEC can get into the talent rich Texas television market.

You have got to be kidding? :eek:lol:

I'd take it, and it's a pretty alright scenario.

A&M: Gets you into Texas, obvious reasons.
KU: Basketball, pure and simple. They might be able to compete in football with the money that the SEC gives out.
VT: Good program that gets you into Virginia, hopefully Virginia doesn't want to ride along.
UM: The DC and Baltimore markets are too big to pass up, unless you can get a bigger named school. (Which is looking tougher and tougher.)
