I pull for all SEC teams to win but UGA.If they played Michigan I'd pull for them, but thats it.Until we start beating them again on a fairly regular basis, boo Bulldogs!I will be rooting for UT big time this weekend. All of us on this site realize of course that the SEC is by far the toughest and best football conference in the country. Clobbering a highly regarded PAC-10 team would go a long way to reminding the rest of the country that the SEC rules!!
Don't forget Auburn a couple back. Had the SEC been getting the respect it deserves, they might have played for the national championship. The rankings are all about perception and therefore perception matters.
At the very least they would have shared the title, had the AP done its job. I am still frustrated that USC won the title outright, while LSU "shared" its title. It is a sham.
Unless there is a shot at the national title on the line I am a party fan of all eleven* SEC teams.
*Nashville posers not included.
My hangup with UGA is my neighbors are UGA grads.Go live by a grad from another SEC rivalry team(that has recently had basically total domination over your team) and tell me you will pull for "Their Team".UGH!But I still hang my UT flag in pride, flying it outside off of my deck! Also my Big 10 Michigan brother in law has already started sending me emails knocking UT (cheerleaders)! It's also a question of self-interest. UT looks better if Florida beats Florida State.
Hey ho, meant to say something earlier. I see you live in Oveido. I live right by you, in Tuscawilla. Drove through downtown Oveido today on my way out to 46 and Titusville.
Live in Twin Rivers off of Lockwood. Pretty close. Depending of weather this weekend I may venture over to Buffalo Wild Wings off of Red Bug to watch some games on Saturday.
Hope SEC does well overall. I will not shed tears or lose any sleep if UGA, Bama or even Gators (Sorry LG) lose. But like I wrote, I want all to do well and have a good showing for the SEC on the first weekend.
Go SEC and even better GO VOLS!!
Yeah, that.
If the other SEC teams win, that's alright, makes the conference look good. If they lose, that's alright too, I don't like them anyway.![]()
I guess the difference in opinion on this is that those programs (like Florida or LSU or Auburn) that have an interest in their national ranking and position down the line do see an advantage to their fellow conference teams doing well. This attitude for successful teams whereas teams like UT or maybe South Carolina, which right now are just trying to get out of being mediocre within the conference, would prefer to see their rivals lose out of spite.
I know what you're saying, LG. I'm just more in the middle. Sure, I want the conference to do well as it reflects well on the Vols if they're able to beat those teams as well, but at the same time, like ho said, I'm not gonna get to worked up if Florida, Georgia, LSU, etc. lose an OoC game.
I think they just sold Twin Rivers, the olf Ekana Golf Club, didn't they? I have always HATED that course, LOL. For some reason, every time I go play there (about 10 times) it is ridiculously wet. No roll at all and every wedge digs about three feet into the muck. Plus the first hole has my number. I just cannot hit a driver straight off that tee. I'm either in the traps on the left or up on that hill, blocked for my approach by the trees.
We will have to get together for a game sometime at BWW. I am out of town this weekend, but perhaps 9/16? Boy, that will be a hostile bar for you, I imagine.
