I've been a metal head since I was 15. Listened to Metallica, Lamb of God, etc... Here recently I've been trying to get into the lighter side of rock. Seems like metal just isn't doing it for me any more. Lately I've been constantly listening to Mumford and Sons, Muse, Kings of Leon, Ray LaMontagne, and The Black Keys. Guess I'm searching for some stuff with a little more "soul" to it. Got some Otis Taylor playing right now and loving it too. Wondering if anyone has some suggestions. :hi:

Radio Moscow is a lot like the Black Keys. The Black Keys loved them and signed them IIRC.

I wasn't implying that, just being honest.

IDK. He's big here. Must be because he makes beachy type music. Understandable that wouldn't be too big in Michigan

I lived off the coast of Florida for 8 years up until last October.
I dunno, he seemed to be big with the college girls about five years ago, obviously he has a male following as well, would be silly if he didn't.

Three guys you might want to check out:

Chuck Ragan
Tim Barry
Dustin Kensrue

While not metal, all three used to be the lead singers in different punk bands before getting old and going in a more folk route. Sounds a little like the progression you might be on.

The Dirty Guv'nahs, a band out of Knoxville. The lead singer kinda sounds like the guy from Kings of Leon.

If you want some "soul" go with some Otis Redding or Sam Cooke. Recently I'v been pretty into Bon Iver and anything that Conor Oberst touches.

Loved Crack the Skye

Thought for a minute you were talking about the 70s progressive rock band Crack the Sky. They blew Knoxville away at a free concert where they opened for The Atlanta Rhythm Section.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes are good for a few catchy tunes. I just got a follow on Twitter from a band called Black Baptista. I think they are fairly new. There are some tracks from their album you can listen to on their site. From what I've heard they are a bit hit and miss as far as my tastes go, but they aren't too bad.
