My wife got the three of us tickets for the May race!
She's full of surprises. We'd discussed it before. We were able to find a hotel(fortunately). Most places were sold out and prices were in the range of $140-$300. We got a place for just over $100. However, we do have a friend living in the area and if she can put us up, we'll cancel the room. The wife and I were in SC last season and stopped by the track. It's 1.366 miles.
I've already gotten ideas from someone else on parking.
We're looking forward to going!
It's no more than 7-8 hours from where we live, so we'd drive down on Friday and return on Sunday.

Which side of the track are you sitting on? I've been several times and if you're sitting on the side with the newer grandstands, parking can be dicey at times. If you're on the older side, parking isn't too bad if you get there early enough. There's a little side road off Hwy. 52 in Darlington, I think it's Smith Rd or Ave, and it takes you up to the track. The parking on the side of that road is free and you can get out very easily.

Have fun in Darlington. I'm going back to the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte next year. I went this year which was my first time to Charlotte and had a good time. They do a hell of a job there of moving traffic using shifting lanes that allow more lanes in to the track before the race and then more lanes devoted to leaving the track afterwards. It was cool to see Casey Mears get his first win but the jr. and Stewart fans didn't show him much love. :peace2:

I'm still shocked every time Darlington sells out it's race seeing how close it is to the 2 weeks spent at Charlotte in late May. Adding lights to that track saved it from ending up like Rockingham.

Hope you're not staying at the Apple Tree Inn near the track. This hotel still has shag carpet and window unit a/c's. It's awful!!!!

We're staying at a Comfort Inn about 30 miles from the track. Our seats are along the front stretch just past the start finish line.
