Future paved with gold?
Pope John Paul II football-baseball star Golden Tate attended the Vanderbilt-Tennessee football game. When he returned home, there was a scholarship offer from Notre Dame in the mail.
He is expected to officially visit the Irish this weekend. Tate also visited South Carolina on Dec. 19.
Tate talked to IrishEyes.com about his future.
"I think most of the schools are going to play me on offense somewhere, which is where I would like to play,'' he told Jeff Baumhower. "I'll play anywhere, but I feel I can help the team at wide receiver or running back because I can catch and run the ball. if you want me to, I can even go through it.''
Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Florida, South Carolina and Alabama are the top teams Tate lists.
Tate has big-time quicks, but is undersized and determining the best position for him to play is key to his success.
