My grandfather was not KIA but served in both WWII and the Korean War. He lied about his age and served in WWII in the marines at age 17. He died in the 70s before my parents even knew each other; wish I could've met him and heard some stories.

Just to inject a little levity on this day of (mostly) mournful remembrance: Darth Vader - Star Wars casualty.

My dad, wounded in battle in France (WWII) loved that movie. I miss his laughter.

Gary Rowlette of Mount Carmel died in Vietnam serving his country! Thanks to all who have paid the ultimate price and God bless their families.

My grandfather. Not KIA but kept us safe during the cold war. 23 year vet of the USAF and died young at 54. Master Sgt Bobby Welch
