Gonzalez to Falcons

1st rounds seems a little steep for Gonzalez....but, the Falcons are probably planning on winning the South and securing a home or a bye in the playoffs this year, so it's a late 1st rounder.

OP, the Chiefs are getting a 2nd rounder from the Falcons, not a 1st. I thought that seemed like a really high price to pay for a guy with 1 or 2 good years left in him.

haha!! The Chiefs get Cassel and Vrabel for a second, while the stupid Falcons just get a second round talent TE. He's overrated, and has maybe two solid years left.
They have some major needs on defense. I'd think they need every pick they can get to build that side of the ball up a little.

Man, I hate the Falcons!

Gonzalez is a "secound round talent" tight end? What the hell does a first round talent tight end look like?

Bad decision on behalf of the Chiefs. The recipe of success in NE had him surrounded by talent. By taking away Gonzo, you take away Cassel's likely #1 target.

A 2010 2nd RD pick has the value of a 2009 3rd RD'er. So basically, Atlanta landed Gonzo in exchange for their 3rd RD'er. In that context, I think they got a great deal, and I don't think you'll be calling him over-rated when NFC South competition starts. It's a good thing Carolina has Thomas Davis.

Other than Gates and Witten, I'm not really sure that any TEs in the league right now are worthy of first round picks. Sure it's an important job, but so is the job of the place-kicker. That doesn't mean Robbie Gould is worthy of a first round draft pick.

I just think it looks funny how the Chiefs got so much for their second round pick, while the Falcons got a TE who is just about over-the-hill.
Why hate on Thomas Davis?? He isn't the LB you should be afraid of...it's Jon Beason.

What Gonzalez can't do on the field anymore will be more than made up with his leadership in the locker room. With Brooking gone they will need some veterans to step up. I think he can still play at a high level for another year or 2. Especially if the Falcons stay in the hunt and he has a championship to try and win.
