Yeah that's pretty disappointing. But with all the uncertainty surrounding the team right now, you can't really blame him for leaving since he was a first round pick. Hopson leaving baffles me much more... THAT is a waste.

I think Tobias saw it as a double-edged sword with all the NBA uncertainty, but a dull side to the blade, whereas the NCAA issues with UT were a much sharper side. He took the lesser of two evils, and as fans, it's just hard to see his days with us come to a close so quickly.

It's not like the NBA is going to fold and now he knows where he stands(the 19th pick). What if he came back and played poorly? What if he got injured? He's now a future millionaire regardless.

I think Mcrae will be a stud.I got to watch him alot in high school and I know high school isnt college but this kid has that IT factor and I couldnt believe he didnt get to play no more than he did last year.

Interesting that Jeff Goodman of CBS paints a rosy future for Cuonzo and the Vols when this is what Gregg Doyel, also of CBS, has to say about Cuonzo's Vols:

"If the Volunteers break even this season on the basketball court, it would be ... well, it wouldn't be. It won't be. It won't happen. That's going to be an awful team..."

Interesting to hear Tobias admit what many of us knew regarding the distractions and lack of chemistry. It seems a case of the older guys resenting the new stud player. I can't even remember the amount of times I yelled at Goins on the tv for not passing the ball to the open player. I also think Scotty's petulance was a factor here and maybe even a little Brian Williams thrown in the mix, as he appeared to be a vocal figure on the team.

I still believe the early success was truly what that team should have looked like the entire year. Once the news hit about the more serious nature of Pearl's job status, we took an obvious nose dive. Ah, what could've been.

Scottie and Tobias both played the game right. With all the forwards who stayed in school and all the ones coming in, I don't think either was gonna do any better next year. Unless they had just an incredibly dominant year. I'm glad Tobias came back to continue his studies and i wish him and Scottie all the best

Me too but you always think what might have been had they stayed.

"McRae fielded three or four calls from other schools in the weeks between Pearl's firing and Martin's hiring -- and he wasn't alone. It was the same for Hall and Golden. "

Is it legal (within NCAA regs) for other schools to contact our players??
