From the Washington Post - basically shows what a bunch of crap the whole thing was from beginning to end. Wilson, the Whitehouse and Fitzgerald are all addressed.

washingtonpost.com

Not sure if it requires registration (free).

Here's a few quotes:

It was propelled not by actual wrongdoing but by inflated and frequently false claims, and by the aggressive and occasionally reckless response of senior Bush administration officials -- culminating in Mr. Libby's perjury.

The bold is an assessment of Wilson's actions.

Mr. Wilson's case has besmirched nearly everyone it touched. The former ambassador will be remembered as a blowhard. Mr. Cheney and Mr. Libby were overbearing in their zeal to rebut Mr. Wilson and careless in their handling of classified information. Mr. Libby's subsequent false statements were reprehensible. And Mr. Fitzgerald has shown again why handing a Washington political case to a federal special prosecutor is a prescription for excess.

Mr. Fitzgerald was, at least, right about one thing: The Wilson-Plame case, and Mr. Libby's conviction, tell us nothing about the war in Iraq.

LOL. Funny how people are still on this bandwagon of Plame and Wilson. The fact is Libby lied. He was a fool. Who cares what Plame and Wilson did? Who cares about the motivations of Cheney and Libby? The fact is that nothing was illegal until Libby lied under oath. If he did nothing wrong, why did he lie? What was the point in covering up? True about Plame. So what? The investigation would have died had Libby just said what actually happened. Instead he dragged out a trial that did not need to happen and is now convicted...for what? The need to pointlessly lie about something that wasn't illegal to begin with?

It is just like Clinton. There was nothing illegal with him until he started lying about the whole deal.

So instead of this crap about poor Libby and witch hunt, let's actually talk about the fact he was a complete idiot for going down for something that was meaningless. He's a fool's martyr.

Well I'm certainly not defending Libby.

There are as many people on the bandwagon that this whole affair is one-sidedly bad - the Whitehouse. The article in the Post exposes the whole thing for what it was - much ado about nothing ---- until Libby lied under oath.
