Dates and fields for notable preseason college basketball tournaments in 2010.

Preseason tournament schedule
Tournament Dates Championship Site Teams

Coaches vs. Cancer Nov. 8-12, 18-19 New York
*Illinois, *Maryland, *Pittsburgh, *Texas; College of Charleston, Illinois-Chicago, Louisiana Tech, Navy, Rhode Island, Seattle, Toledo, UC Irvine
(* - automatically advance to championship round)
Would be fantastic for Pitt to do very well in this tournament and then lose to us.

CBE Classic Nov. 14-17, 22-23 Kansas City, Mo. *Duke, *Gonzaga, *Kansas State, *Marquette; Bucknell, Green Bay, IUPUI, James Madison, Miami (Ohio), Presbyterian, Princeton, San Diego State
(* - automatically advance to championship round)
San Diego State can get lots of credibility with a good showing here. No rooting interest for the Vols really but it is always fun to cheer against Duke.

Legends Classic Nov. 14-21, 26-27 Atlantic City, N.J. *Georgia Tech, *Michigan, *Syracuse, *UTEP; Albany, Bowling Green, Detroit, Gardner-Webb, Mercer, Niagara, Western Carolina, William & Mary
(* - automatically advance to championship round)

NIT Season Tip-Off Nov. 15-17, 24, 26 New York Arkansas State, Belmont, Boston U, George Washington, Hampton, Marist, Missouri State, Nevada, Pacific, Pepperdine, Tennessee, UCLA, VCU, Villanova, Wake Forest, Winthrop

Would be very good for our eventual seeding to get 3 wins in this tournament.

Cancun Challenge Nov. 18, 20, 23-24 Cancun, Mexico La Salle, Missouri, Morgan State, North Florida, Prairie View A&M, Providence, Western Illinois, Wyoming

Charleston Classic Nov. 18-21 Charleston, S.C. Charlotte, East Carolina, George Mason, Georgetown, North Carolina State, Wofford, TBA, TBA

We want Charlotte to win this for our strength of schedule.

Puerto Rico Tip-Off Nov. 18-21 San Juan, Puerto Rico Davidson, Hofstra, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Western Kentucky

SEC fans should be rooting for Vanderbilt in this tournament.

Paradise Jam Nov. 19-22 U.S. Virgin Islands Alabama, Clemson, Iowa, Long Beach State, Old Dominion, Seton Hall, St. Peter's, Xavier

Alabama can get some credibility against Clemson and the X men, but this tournament lacks the marquee names you often see here.

Maui Invitational Nov. 22-24 Maui, Hawaii Chaminade, Connecticut, Kentucky, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington, Wichita State

We want Kentucky, and UConn to succeed in this tournament. Would LOVE to watch Michigan State lose.

76 Classic Nov. 25-26, 28 Anaheim, Calif. CS-Northridge, DePaul, Murray State, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Tulsa, UNLV, Virginia Tech

DePaul will win it all beating Virginia Tech. Just kidding, that is a joke from last year. Would be hilarious though.

Old Spice Classic Nov. 25-26, 28 Orlando, Fla. Boston College, California, Georgia, Manhattan, Notre Dame, Temple, Texas A&M, Wisconsin

Georgia can justify a top 25 rating or not in this tournament. They have the best frontcourt in the tournament. Wisconsin has a strong team as usual.

Diamond Head Classic Dec. 22-23, 25 Honolulu, Hawaii Baylor, Butler, Florida State, Hawaii, Mississippi State, San Diego, Utah, Washington State

Mississippi State has to play against all of these teams without Dee Bost and Renardo Sidney but they lost by 2 in the NIT against North Carolina and they have the talent to make some noise especially against a team like Butler. Baylor also may be without Lacedarius depending on his felony charges handling.

Cancun Challenge Nov. 18, 20, 23-24 Cancun, Mexico La Salle, Missouri, Morgan State, North Florida, Prairie View A&M, Providence, Western Illinois, Wyoming

Good informative post. I still can't believe the drunk pedophile scheduled UK for this tourney last year. What a disgrace... glad that tenure is over.

Bump.

The SEC is doing well so far in these tournaments. Florida got housed by Ohio State in Gainesville but South Carolina hung much tougher than predicted in their big OOC loss and there are some nice SEC victories happening.

LSU losing to Nicholls State was foul. Auburn looks terrible but should win today and tomorrow.
