calm down. Everyone needs to realize that there really isn't a bad name in the three coaches that could be our next head coach. Gundy has built himself a nice little established Big 12 team that has been able to play with the big boys. Strong has turned an abismal Louisville team into a conference champion (nevermind what conference) and Fedora built a pretty decent ball club in Hattisburg and managed to go 8-4 with a UNC team that was staring down the barrel of NCAA sanctions and wasn't eligible for a bowl. Personally I think we will be much better off with any one of these guys.

How dare you post something reasonable?

They are admittedly all three about 100 times better coaches than Derek

I agree totally but the majority of this board thinks UT should hire a Saban like coach, aka Gruden, no matter the costs, and the team should compete for national titles every year. Those are unreal expectations. We need a solid coach to build the team back to where it once was. People want instant results but the program is nowhere close to where it needs to be. Les Miles and Urban Meyer walked into very talented teams and started winning instantly. It didn't take Saban long to secure talent. People feel our next coach should be able to do the same. Gruden may be the only guy to do that or maybe Peterson or Patterson. I think everyone wants a home run hire, not a solid one. I think Gundy with a good DC would be great as well as Strong with a good OC. I just hope whoever it is, they can produce on the field, unite the fan base, and play solids D, run the ball, and compete for the SEC title.

Why should the #2 team all-time in SEC wins expect anything less?

I completely agree with the original poster here, of the three, I think we all have our preferences but all are better than Bielema and Mahlzan.

I think the concern is if Strong, Gundy, and Fedora all decide to stay. Then I think we are left scrambling a bit.

Because we just aren't there right now. This program faces some real issues and needs a stabalizing force, not some circus like what Petrino or Gruden would bring in. I think Fedora and Strong are the two guys best suited to bring order back to the UT football program.

That scares the hell out of me, because if that happens we are going to end up with a coach that was hastily decided upon... a la Dooley.
