I am ashamed to be a citizen of Georgia. That prosecutor in Douglas County is hiding behind the law so that he doesn't have to make the moral decision. I pray for him and Wilson.

There is a thread in the Pub that had a link to this story. After I read it I was speechless.

The story in itself is quite foul, and shows a great lack of moral decency from the youthes involved...but the incarciration and the like are really messed up, especially when the legislature amends the law post facto, im thinking as a direct result of this case, and the sentence isn't revoked and the criminal record of Wilson expunged...here in New England the laws like the one in question are called "Blue Laws", left over from the pious days of old, such as no liquor sales or shooting on sundays, no sale of cigarette lighters at an establishment that sells hard liquor, etc...the Sunday law isnt bad, as it gives mom-and-pop owners a day off, the sunday shooting law is a result of the strong Anti-Hunting lobby (so folks like me dont indiscretionately slaughter animals --said sarcastically), and the lighter law is because they are too lazy to just rip the law from the books...the case in question is one of those, just plain stupid...

BUT...as i learned in the Army, when a girl yells RAPE, no matter what happened, the male is generally going down and hard. I had 2 soldiers engaged in a situation such as the one in the article, all parties were quite drunk, and when she had the morning after "what the hell did i do that for" thought, she cried rape, and brought down and ruined 2 young men's lives in the process

While I agree with what you are sayding the facts stated in this case are what amaze me. The girl admits to it being consensual. What else is necessary - prime example of an over zealous prosecutor that is obviously trying to build up a future campaign.

I'm ashamed as well. This is an appalling misuse of the law. Georgia has some of the most ridiculous laws in the Union.

I hope they set him free.

Sad. Punishment does not fit the crime. And as written and facts presented it even can't be classified as a crime to any person with a decent amount of common sense. Sad.
