Good read on D'Montre Edwards...

Not to be overly negative... But the article says he was basically schooled by Kenny Hall, has expectations to fill the role Cam Tatum left, and has comparisons to Scotty Hopson -albeit the "good" qualities-.... I suppose that if all they expect they will get from him is 10 pts 7 rebs a game and be happy then let's jump for joy. However, he's not gonna be a game changer IMO.. I think CCM will be judged on what he can do with what he's got and what he can bring in from this point forward.

He doesn't need to be a game changer; and yea he's 6'6" if Kenny didn't school him I'd be a bit concerned about Kenny.

He isn't going to be a game changer, thus the many tatum comparison. He's going to be asked to be an all around player, don't do anything great, but everything well. When you have 2 stars on the court like maymon and stokes you don't exactly have to have a game changer on the wing.

He's going to be asked to play defense, rebound, hit open perimeter shots, drive when it's there, and most importantly get the ball to our bigs. If he plays good D, rebounds, averages 10ppg and 6rpg while shooting 40+% from the field and 35+% from 3, you may not jump for joy(because he's not a game changer) but i sure as hell will jump for joy.

As I said, this team doesn't need another game changer, they just need guys to play defense and hit open shots, and not turn the ball over.

who said he needs to be a game changer ? I dont think 1 situation is being schooled.6-6 vs 6-11.Hall should of used him up,he is suppose to.You have no ideal how good this kid is or can be.

His ability to hit the open shots, play defense, and most importantly FEED THE POST well are going to be his biggests assets to the team. Tatum was good at feeding the post, but not great. JP Prince was the last really good post-feeder we've had on the wing. I expect Edwards to be a similarly good passer and be able to provide a capable give-n-go threat like JP was as well. That is more the role I see him playing rather than Hopson or Tatum's role. Of course, I don't think he is quite as good at getting to the rim as JP was, but he is a much better outside shooter so it will create space. JP's handles were better too. I expect a solid role player out of Edwards this year. Next year, if our recruiting ends up where I think it will, he might not see much time on the court though.

I'd be thrilled if we get 10 & 7 from Edwards. Better averages than we've had from the wing in a long time.

Skylar is actually really good at this.

I like the JP comparision. Would love that.

I would love him to shoot the 3 well. Would really help the team.

Considering D'Montre averaged 14 and 7 in JUCO, 10 and 7 in the SEC would be out of this world, especially considering he probably won't get more than 20 minutes/game. 10 and 7 is a good days work in this league in 40 minutes.

Skylar is a good post feeder. I should have mentioned him in there at some point. I completely agree. JP caused more stress on the defense due to his ability to give n go or fake the pass and put the ball on the floor and drive though. Skylar is a very reliable person on the wing feeding the post though for sure. Thanks zjc
