Nice article, but the past few years have influenced me to temper my expectations concerning our football team. Which is not necessarily a bad thing....less room for disappointment.

With all that being said, Go Vols and we gon whip all dey azz!!!!!!!!

The question is not " will we compete" the question is how many will we be able to win? I hoping for 7 plus a bowl win makes 8.

Here are 2 good reasons to be optimistic about 2014:
1) From a talent standpoint, we are deeper and better than last year.
2) We beat USCe and lost to UGA in OT.

*The SEC East is pretty wide open this year. You just never know.

Comes down to OL/DL and a few breaks...and just maybe a long field goal to get to 7 wins

Most of us on here hate to omit that we may have a more experience QB than USCjr, UGA, Mizzo with Justin Worley. We should realize that this could be our year to be even with the other big boys in the EAST

And to add to that, we went 5-7 last year and could have very easily been 7-5 if we had won the UGA and Vandy games while playing one of the hardest schedules ever. Our D-line play has been atrocious for several years now so it is hard to see any possible way to take a step back in that department and the other defensive positions have been upgraded.

Don't get me wrong though, I think 6-6 is going to be tough to get to but we should see less blowouts this year.
