Jon wonders how President Bush could have missed the news that gas is going up to four dollars a gallon.

I figured this wouldn't get many responses in here since it's hard to defend such stupidity.

if you can please explain the role the President has in the price of fuel, you and Jon might have a point.

We can't drill for our own, we can't build new refineries and the government makes nearly 10 times what the oil companies make on a gallon of gas.

Explain that to Bush, he's the one who was trying to pass it off on Clinton. Also, it was geared more towards Bush not even knowing what was going on with the price of oil.

It is definitely hypocritical. I will give you that. Is it out of norm for politics? Not in the least. I would imagine that Obama and HRC are informed on an almost daily basis as to what their talking points should be, that day, to that audience.

GWB is eight months out. I have a feeling he no longer receives daily briefs on talking points needed to stick to in order to appease the voting masses. Instead, his talking point briefs probably involve, what to stick to in order not to escalate the situation in Iran.

How does trashing Bush's energy policy negate the lack of an effective energy policy by the Clinton admin?

Both did nothing to reduce our reliance on oil and on foreign sources of oil.

But only one made it worse.

Come on MG, do you seriously think that Bush and Cheney have absolutely nothing to do with the Big Oil industry now? What about Iraq? Don't you think that's contributing to the high prices?

I heard Bush and Cheney are responsible for the Kennedy assassination.

I think the biggest problems for high gas prices are the value of the U.S. dollar and the increase in demand in China.

if you understand capitalism, you'll understand supply and demand. The booming markets of China and India coupled with a weak dollar are driving oil prices through the roof.

You can play the Bush/Cheney/Big Oil conspiracy card all you want, but unless you can prove that they're behind the worldwide (yes, everybody is paying that much for oil) spike in crude oil pricing, you should find a more intellectually honest criticism.

once a lib always a lib. Facts only get in the way of the truth. Hope and Change springs eternal. Truth be known it is all Jimmy Carter's fault.

Lets go further back and just blame Henry Ford for mass producing the automobile and therfore increasing the demand for fuel.

It is the left/environmentalist that have block the building of new oil refineries in the U.S. for the past 32 years not to mention blocking the drilling for oil in Alaska. Both sides shoulder the blame.

Supply and Demand blah blah blah. You'll have to excuse me for giggling at that tired old line.

If you can prove to me that they're not involved in any way shape or form, I'll gladly retract my statement.

I don't think the left have been taking the enviromental stand for the past 32 years and gas prices weren't an issue 8 years ago either.
