My first Arkansas v. Tennessee game was the 1990 Cotton Bowl.
Both teams went up and down the field that day. Chuck Webb ran all over us and Quinn Grovey had a big day (played sick).
Like most of the time, the Vols were too much that day. But as a 15 year old kid that day i left with alot of respect for Tenn. ( I must have hummed Rocky Top for a month after that :whistling: :yuck: )
I won't ever forget the 1992 game. We had no business winning that game. We started a true freshman qb , Barry Lunney, and won the game on a last second field goal by Todd Wright. Welcome to the SEC Arkansas!
Our program was really down that year, so basically that was the highlight of the year.
On our way to the SEC Championship game in 1995, I will never forget the show Peyton Manning put on in Fayettville. When I watch the Colts go up and down the field on Sundays, it always reminds me of that day in 95. It looked just like the Colts do every Sunday.
Wow... 1998.. Clint Stoerner... I literally dove out of my chair in front of my televison to try and recover that fumble.. Great year for the Vols!
Ahh... 1999 Stoerner to Lucas.. Redemption! The talent on that Tenn. team that year was incredible. It was just our day. To me, those were vintage Tenn. teams.
And the 6 overtime game. Witten is a great tight end. I've forgiven him a little bit since he is playing so well for my Cowboys.
I will be in Fayettville on Saturday. Heres' hoping for another classic. I hope we can notch our 3 win against the Vols.
I wish we played Tenn every year. We are bordering states and it just makes sense. I've only had a two bad experiences with Tenn. fans, but most have been class acts. Every fan base have there knuckle dragging idiots. We certainly have our share. But in the short series we have played Tenn, there have been some great games!
Heres to a good game... Go Hogs Go!
Ark. 28 Tenn. 23
