Goodell salary to be $1 if work stoppage (AP)
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will cut his salary to $1 if there is a work stoppage after the collective bargaining agreement expires in March. Goodell, who makes about $10 million a year including bonuses, said in a memo to his staff Wednesday that chief negotiator Jeff Pash will do the same. Pash makes nearly $5 million a year.

Why should he get paid if the players don't
I'll start buying it IF
He will work for free from NOW until a new CBA is reached
He signs a gaurantee for a rookie cap
He signs a gaurantee of no 18 game season

I've respected him until now. This is clearly a bogus move to try and get fan support on his side. If he had promised his salary to a charity or something, that would be one thing, but I find this petty and dramatic.
Somebody please just speak up and tell both sides where they are wrong. The players are putting their lives on the line, and they are not being taken care of very well by the owners. They need a rookie salary cap, but other than that, I'm on the players' side...including the fact that I don't want 18 games.

those have to be reach through agreement by the Players Union and the Owners, and possibly put into a new CBA (I'm not sure on the last part)

it's not just "Goodell signs it"....in some ways similar to how a law a president makes has to come from congress, not just "I want this; I sign it"

also "guarantee"

I believe that's one of the few things both sides agree on actually

I think these two HAVE to be done. The rookie cap has been needed for quite a while, and 18 games plus pre-season is just unreal.

Also, Goodell looks like a moron with this kind of statement. Quit posing for the crowd, get behind closed doors, and get this deal done.

Really one of his weaker points so far. Taglibue would keep both sides in (I forget the term; is it the 11th hour or something?) to make sure things (or at least something) got agreed upon and done before the deadline.

...I just don't have faith in Roger's ability to accomplish something like that, successfully.
