Goodman on Pearl: Sweet 16

When Pearl took over in 2005 after a four-year, two-tournament stint at UW-Milwaukee, it didn't appear to fit.

A Jewish guy from Sharon, Mass., down in the heart of SEC country.

There was no chance he would be able to do anything down in Knoxville. But he took over a group of guys recruited by the previous Buzz Peterson regime...

Yeah I don't see how you guys think this is basketball commentary instead of a political dog whistle, but if it gets you fired up about Vols basketball see if you have some orange in your closet.

Your point? I'm not sure. But, thanks for your concern. And, I more than likely have Orange in my closet older than you.

If you don't care for the article in the link, then don't attempt to belittle members that do. It's simple really.

Wow. Maybe you should check your closet. No one said anything about this article getting us fired up. Most of us just like reading articles praising our teams. But as long as we're challenging people's level of fanaticism about UT sports, let me challenge you to name 2 players on the softball team. Or baseball team. Or tennis teams. Bet ya can't because you focus on basketball and football. You probably have more UT gear in your closet, but I probably follow more sports than you do.

Not to mention that there's not even anything wrong with the article. If you pick out one sentence, attach a negative connotation to it, and let it overshadow a positive article then I think it's safe to say that your priorities are in the wrong place.

Not mentioned is this year's success after the 4 stooges pulled their off court tricks. We could have been finished after that, but beat #1, #2 and are in the sweet 16. I admit that I thought we were finished for this year, but glad I was wrong.
