Sounds like art to me. They should see the Portuguese national museum of art. It would make their heads explode.

Yeah that's art. Can I go and take a crap on a Koran and stick it there too and call it art?

How's that gonna fly.

I'll call it Crapola on the Koranola.

No reason to stop you.

Although crapping in religious text REALLY compares to ants crawling all over a half dead guy on a stick.

But guys, I think the real crime here is Ellen Degeneres' breasts. I mean, who REALLY wants to see that?

Yes, because a giant tapestry of Ellen grabbing her tatas would REALLY be allowed to fly in town square instead of a closed, admission only museum.

You really suck at this establishing your own opinion thing : /

To quote a Southern scholar, once you've seen one woman naked you wanna see the rest of them naked

Countdown to when angry Christians will start strapping bombs to themselves and killing innocent civilians in 6... 5... 4... 3...

I love how anything is labeld as art if you call it art.

Hey look its my foot print in the sand. Wanna buy it. It's art.

People being critical of the art community like this always makes me laugh.

Years and years of one group of people trying to call out another group of people who really couldn't care less.

As an artist myself, the people whose opinions I care about are those who think my creations are art. IDGAF what anyone else thinks. Or it's more accurately portrayed that because it makes them think then it's considered art.

Commendable - I agree an artist shouldn't GAF. That is until those people that they don't care about are asked to fund their work.

I think Conservatives are wrong for using this particular issue to look at the 'use of public funding for art/culture' debate. That is a larger debate that should be art content neutral IMHO. The selective concern in this case shows a mixing of social conservatism and fiscal conservatism. Actually, it's social conservatism being wrapped in the guise of fiscal conservatism.

Agreed. This is nothing more than pandering to a political base.

So what if it offends Christians? Is that a good basis for removal? No, in my opinion it isn't. Flag burning is equally offensive but if some unemployed yahoo wants to hold "expressive art" by burning the US flag, he should be able to.

Respecting someone's Freedom of Expression (no matter how juvenile, offensive or against your own opinion it is) is paramount.

I agree, the problem is portions of every side on any issue are going to be upset. If some group wanted to burn or abuse Harvey Milk in effigy the gay community would be up in arms and complaining as well.

It's all about respect, everyone wants it afforded them but often show very little for others views or lifestyles.

Sad, but true.
