The Nobel committee is official a joke. WTF has Al Gore done to promote world peace?

Why not?

He has one of the largest carbon footprints of anyone in the world. It is about talk and not action. Right?

The Nobel Prize is awarded by categories. Don't get your question.

I think that his question is...why would Al Gore get the Nobel Peace Prize ... which is what the article was talking about.

I must say this is a bit bothersome to me, too. The way that one could construe this towards peace is that if global warming is confirmed and efforts to fight it are successful, then a lot of suffering and war over resources could be avoided. However, awarding that prize now is a bit weird in my opinion. No real steps have been taken yet to curb the majority of global emissions. And, I'm not crazy about Gore getting it for that - I would go with the IPCC before him.

There have got to be better candidates this year.

it's the Nobel committee, in their eyes, another good candidate is Kim Jong Il because he gave up NK's nuclear weapons ambitions. Ahmadenijad's stock increased as well since he recently steered away from the total annihilation of Israel and favored just relocated it to Europe or Alaska.

He was nominated for the Peace Prize. Not for science (unless you think he should've been nominated for inventing the internet).

Useless internet reference (I really get irate about that one), but you're right about the nomination. Peace is the only prize it would make sense for him to be nominated for....and that is really a stretch right now to me.

Al Gore = A wannabe Tennessean who strip mines in a small community and yet preaches on environmental issues. YUP, the typical D.C. hypocrite.

You mean like the McLean, Va., resident Fred Thompson, who no longer maintains a residence nor is a registered voter in Tenn.? :whistling:

And yes, Gore deserves the Nobel. Not everyone has their heads in the sand about global warming. :clapping:

The earth maybe getting warming, but there is not enough evidence to suggest that it is being caused by humans. But there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the sun has more of a impact on global climate than CO2 emissions from fossil fuels...

Well, I don't totally dispute that. But did you hear the NPR report this morning that even Exxon has stopped funding the propoganda groups and talking heads whose job is to dispute global warming. (Or is public radio too socialistic for you?)

Generally most people believe global warming is real. *This excludes radical views.

I guess the issue is how much humans are the cause and the extreme positions that the Earth is going to burn itself up in 20 years.

Wow, NPR, now that is some solid news.

If Exxon stopped funding the propaganda it was probably because they figured it was a useless fight having to change so many stupid minds.

Actually they are very socialistic.

Ya, thank heaven for Faux News.

Nothing socialistic about NPR: the government neither owns, operates nor subsidizes them. They survive by VOLUNTARY donations from foundations, corporations and individual listeners.
