Any one else agree? Also it helps to get a win today than announce the signing of Bud this week as well.

Harvick has certainly been the most consistent during the regular season. It seems like different drivers get momentum at different times, but can't keep it going for more than a couple of weeks. I think it will be a much more interesting Chase this year.

If I were betting on the CHASE, I think I'd pick Kevin over anyone else. Anyone else feel the same way? Worst case Kevcin will be no worse than 20 back when the Chase starts. He can make that up in one race.

You guys know how much I love Harvick, but you can't go against Jimmie until he's mathematically eliminated.

There's always a team that is hot going into the chase. Last year it was Mark Martin. The year before it was Kyle. Once the chase starts, the 48 team always hits a different level. Until someone proves that they can hang with Jimmie in the chase, my money is on him and the 48.

Here's my breakdown

Jimmie Johnson-Like I said, I won't count him out until the math doesn't add up.
Kevin Harvick-Has been the most consistent of anyone, but can he win in the chase? New Hampshire and Phoenix are his 2 best options.

Jeff Gordon- I can easily see him going off and winning 3 races in the chase and giving himself a chance entering Homestead.

Tony Stewart-He's starting to get hot. He's a multiple champ. Don't sleep on him.

Denny Hamlin-He's really struggled since dominating Michigan 2 months ago. Is it R&D? Are they really slumping? They're plenty capable of getting hot for 10 races.

Kyle Busch-Will he be consistent enough? Can he take 8th place cars and bring them home in 8th? Will he get in over his head and damage it and finish 25th-30th? To win a championship he's going to have to salvage average days.

Carl Edwards-He's quietly placed himself in the championship race. Since Chicagoland he's made his move and is flying under the radar. Can he win races to keep him alive?

Jeff Burton-Similar to his teammate Harvick, except his luck hasn't been as good. Same as a lot of others. He needs to finish races off and break into victory lane.

Kurt Busch-Has ran really well and is a threat on the 1.5-2 mile tracks. He's had some bad luck mostly not of his own doing.

Greg Biffle-He and Irwin have really found something over the past month. Much like his teammate Edwards, he's peaking at the right time.

Matt Kenseth-Wasted spot. His performance has been garbage since April.

Clint Bowyer-Has ran competitively, but not enough to be in the top half of the points after 10 races. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in shouting distance after the first couple of races, though.

Johnson, Harvick and Hamlin would be my picks to finish in the top 3 for the championship.

I am pulling for Tony and Harvick and Biffle. Actually, I am pulling for anyone not named Jimmie Johnson.:) I would like to see Mark sneak back in but like Hendrick said, if he's not comoetitive enough to win a championship it doesn't really matter if he gets in or not.

I just can't wrap my mind around a guy winning five championships in a row when before a couple years ago three-in-a-row had only happened once... and that sadly is the only case I can make for not favoring the 48 when it comes down to championship time.

The 48 team just doesn't seem to have "it" this year, they look lost at times and I just don't see them pulling it out. I think the 48's reign is coming to a close, at this point I don't see how anyone can claim Harvick isn't the favorite to win the championship. I would love to see a first time winner win it all this year and I wouldn't mind seeing Harvick/RCR win it and bring back the cup to that organization.

Harvick may be the favorite, and Johnson may not have "it" this year... but he's still leading the series in wins. Back in 2008 when they started running the new car full time, JJ had just one win going into the Brickyard 400, and they seemed to get things figured out pretty well before the end of that season.

Johnson may not win the title this year, but I have a little more confidence in a team that's done it four years in a row than I do in a team that's never done it.

until somebody beats him, Jimmie Johnson is the favorite.

lots of guy can beat him, Harvick included, but he always gets it going for the Chase.

Like Ric Flair always says, "To be the man, you've got to beat the man." And Jimmie has been "the man" for four straight years. Until someone proves they can beat him in the Chase, he will be the favorite again.

As much as I hate to think it, I believe Jimmie and Chad are just trying new things. They have the most wins and are gonna have the lead going into the chase. He didn't forget how to drive and Chad didn't forget how to setup cars. Once the Chase starts They will get down to work. Believe me, I hope I'm wrong...

I still got the feeling that the 48 has been holding back. I do think that there are 8 guys that are capable of getting hot and winning it though.
