Saban would make his players ride the bus too if they didn't win a game in two years.

can you ever remember a team firing two coaches in the same season? Doug Williams was fired earlier in the season and the interim was fired today

If they boycott and don't play on Saturday then every player should have their scholarships pulled/not renewed at the end of the year. Playing football at the college level is a privilege, not a right.

Bunch of whiny a$$ divas!

Unless something major is going on you don't know about. Think about how hard they've had it for it to even come to this. An entire group of 85 young men deciding says something to me. Ragsdale must have been harder on them than Bryant was at A&M

I find it hard to fault these players for their decision not to play. The school doesn't even seem to care about their basic health and safety.

Doug Williams bought new rubber flooring for the weight room and pogue wouldn't allow him to install it. Then fired him. What else you need to know about the leader of the univ?

All I needed to hear was they fired Doug Williams. How the hell do you fire your most famous footbal alumni for something like that, plus I believe his son is on the team.

This is a shame!!

Need to fire all the administration, then invite Williams back in to begin healing this wound.

Pogue wanted that flooring money to be funneled through the univ fund and Williams told him to get f'd knowing what would happen to it. He prevented the dangerous weight room flooring from being replaced, locked it away, fired the coach, replaced him with a martinet. That's how he got himself into this mess. He'll never be a univ pres again

Reading up onit, wouldn't be shocked if Grambling ends up shutting its doors. Thats a bad situation.

Seems like every year there's some reports in the Nashville media that Fisk is in dire financial straits. The success of integration has obviated the need for hbc&us. They should probably be merged into larger university systems where economies of scale can be applied and some probably just need to close.

True, fact is there are too many univ's that rely on govt subsidies. If a few folded, more resources could be allocated to univ systems that actually have their shat together

We had a local HBC close in our area about 10 years ago. Nothing with the the size or significance of Grambling but they had the same political infighting and lack of direction. It started similarly to the way this is going. Once you are marginal and then start getting bad press to boot things spiral quickly with admissions and fees etc. The local one here even had a huge monetary offer from George Shinn who owned the Hornets at the time. He simply asked to be placed on the board to help with governance. They declined and literally folded within 2 years or thereabouts.

I saw an interview with the president and his body language told me he knew about said conditions and never cared enough to do anything. Its the pass the blame game.
