In the past 2 months, I've seen more people get into it about the words "clip" and "magazine". So much so that I found myself this morning correcting one of my friends at breakfast. That is how strong the conditioning is with some of the gun/grammar Nazis... to the point where I find myself being a Nazi.

I've never understood what the big deal is, but I've seen some people get very serious about the terminology. It can't be that crucial...

In todays world the two are interchangeable words.

Also you can have a clip in a Magazine or a clip cut from a magazine or clip taken from a magazine or a magazine full of clips.

Dafahk you say?

I hear ya, Ras. I learned it as 'clip' from 90's rap music. Not being a gun nu.... excuse me... enthusiast, I incorporated it into my vocabulary. I said it on here once during a gun debate and people jumped all over it. Now I too find myself correcting others about the term.

If you go to a gun shop, they will quickly correct you that it is a magazine, not a clip. Learned that first hand

It's actually a pet peeve of mine when people display them wrong.

I'm enough of a dork that I sent an email to Volunteer Traditions asking them to include something on their site and on the displays with their tri-star decals stating how to correctly orient them.

Drives me nuts when people put them on their cars upside down.

where are the gun grammar nazis when people say bullets when they mean cartridges?

Best one of those I've ever seen was somewhere out there is at least one movie where someone fires a shot and instead of showing a bullet flying towards the target shows, in slomo, a whole unfired round spinning towards the target. I'm just glad I didn't have a mouthful of soda at the time.

They were always clips or mags for me, but that was just Army speak I guess. And bullets were rounds.

I called magazines clips and bullets..bullets. I also shot my m-16 at a 45 degree angle one handed..but I was in the Air Force.

Clips for pistols and magazines for rifles. Just the way I was raised. Bullets are rounds for me as well.
