While the other forum would be the better place to gloat about USC getting smacked down and to laugh at Kiffin and the IDIOTS who followed him there, I am just going to say that the bowl band and scholarship reduction could not have happened to a nicer guy.
It will be really nice if East Lansing loses Izzo to the NBA, and it will be especially nice because Bruce Pearl would not have to recruit against him and Michigan State would likely drop off significantly as a basketball power (like Illinois and Michigan after losing excellent coaches but not as badly as Wisconsin will drop off a cliff when Bo Ryan is gone).
While the above would be good news, there is something much bigger that may be happening. This is about the massive shifts taking place in college sports!
Nebraska looks likely Friday to bolt for the Big Ten, and that may set off the dominoes that will see the SEC, PAC 10 and others expand.
In one of the potential scenarios, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma etc would end up in the Pac 16, and Kansas and Kansas State would be left orphaned. Guys make no mistake, others teams misfortunes are benefits to us. When college athletes are now facing a choice where they have to get on a plane all the darn time to go anywhere and they have fan bases that are less than thrilled, it will help us.
Rumored SEC possibilities for expansion include Georgia Tech, Clemson, FSU, Miami, Texas and Texas A&M (4 max obviously absent something truly massive like the defection of Arkansas). There is not a rumored SEC school for expansion that would not be a decent basketball addittion.
We have already seen that Pearl can create a very strong OOC schedule and recruit nationally within the confines of the current SEC. A realignment of conferences that weakens the ACC in basketball and decimates the Big 12 while strengthening the SEC would be very good for TN.
What are your thoughts on the possible expansion of the SEC?
