It seems that every time a spread team have a great offensive line they are always suprisingly good, with a suprisingly good quaterback ala Auburn with Newton, Manziel with A and M. Even if you look at Flordia with Tebow once the Pouncey twins left his production dropped off pretty dramatically and the team was much worse. I have no doubt that a great offensive line will make us much better than expected. It also makes me wonder what Peterman could do with his chance to run this offense behind this line.

We will have a great offensive line! That is definitely going to be the strength of the 2013 Vols.

I dont think these two things should ever be in the same sentence unless you're talking about the NFL. Other than that, you have a good point.

Lets not compare bray/worrley/peterman to johnny footall or other heisman winning qb's just yet.

I agree that these heisman winners were special talents but you can not say that a lot of their success has to be contributed to them having one of the best if not the best lines in the country.

Certainly a valid point. Remember, however, that Tebow was as perfect a match for Meyer's offensive scheme as Wuerffel was for Spurrier's system. In both instances, once the "perfect storm" quarterback departed, Florida became a less formidable foe. On the other hand, if McCarron didn't have an NFL junior varsity line and a stable full of outstanding running backs in front of him, he would be a far less efficient quarterback.

Ultimately, it just goes to show what has been stated many times: The SEC is a line of scrimmage league. Over the course of time, you win games by having consistently superior "big uglies," as Keith Jackson used to call them.

I think Peterman can and will be a great QB but after watching his highlights from last year he does not appear to be anywhere near as mobile as those QBs you mentioned. On the plus side he throws well on the run and has a really good pocket awareness and appears to have pin point accuracy. So he's got that going for him. But CBJ recruited him so he must believe he can adjust his system for Peterman! Can't wait to see it on the field as his video, imo, is much more impressive than Riley Ferguson.

With James coming back Green and Kamara should be calling us to sign the dotted line. Either one could have monster freshmen season behind this line.
