MY Upated Recruiting List

I have been posting these on volquest and i got a good reception, so i though i should bring it here.
There are two categories of players this year out of state: You got the top 100 guys, and then the Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana leftovers. Fact is, however bad it might sound, getting the secondary talent from Louisiana and Georgia is going to be every important to this years class. Both Georgia and LSU have limited scholarships for this year’s class, and being able to get the number 9 or so player in Louisiana could be a very real possibility this year. The top 100 type guys are not going to come from those states or Florida. It’s hard to tell with these guys, cause they have so many offers early but I will throw out some names. Also it seems as if we are starting to make some moves in-state. We are starting to offer more kids, especially out of Brentwood. It appears to me like Fulmer is trying to get some early commitments in-state, and i would not be surprised to see some. Here is Brent’s early scholarship breakdown form the war room:
1 - quarterback 1-2 - running back 2-3 - wide receiver 4-5 - defensive end/defensive tackle 4-5 - offensive linemen 3-4 - defensive backs 3-4 - linebackers 1 - punter/place-kicker

Possible: Tajh Boyd: Has an offer and goes to Brent Vinson’s high school. Has said he likes us and Is part of that tidewater area that we are looking to tap into. He has said that we are in the mix. Was in Knoxville for the March 1 Junior Day.

Work To Do: Aaron Murray: Still very early in his recruitment, but he claims 37 offers. Seems as if we are right in the thick of things (top 8 I would say) but Florida is going to be tough to beat given their system. Had this to say about Tennessee on scout:” I have not visited them yet, but they have a great staff, an unbelievable staff. They want to get me up there as soon as possible to check it out. They called last week and want me to come up."

Longshot: Kevin Newsome: Great player and is from the tidewater area, but we are a long shot.

Runningback:

Possible:Gabriel Hunter: It is always tough to pull a kid out of Memphis. I know per Tennstud that Tennessee has already made a move with hunter but will have a lot of work to do. I think we would love to get Hunter and an out of state back and then call it a day.

Possible: Ronnie Wingo: From STL and has an offer. Has been to knoxville for an AAU event. We seem to be in it, but it is too early to get a good feel for this kid.

Possible: Teric Jones: Mich will be tough to beat, but we are very much in it and have been by to see him. Kid ran a blistering time at the AA combine. We are in his top 3.

Work To Do:David Oku: We got in there very early with the old staff, will be interesting to see if the new staff picks up. Auburn is in very good shape here. He has said he wants to leave the state. We are in his top 8.

Work To Do:Eddie Lacy:Has an offer, and we got in early. But an offer could LSU could end this one early, this however is not a given.

Possible:Jarvis Giles: Is being recruited by Stan Drayton and says that Tennessee is his leader. I think we are in very good shape with this one.

Wait And See: Desmond Scott: Speedy back out of NC who is a top 100 type talent. Will be in knoxville for the March 1 Junior Day and we will know more after that.

Wait And See:Morgan Alexander: Grew up a vols fan and will be at the March 1 Junior Day: Does not have an offer right now and i probably fairly far down the RB's board right now.

Fullback:

:Wait And See Dominique Allen: Big in-state kid who Brent said we are starting to show interest in. His status will more depend on weather or not we go after a fullback this year. He could be a late addition depending on where on the field Ben Bartholomew ends up. He was in Knoxville for Junior Day, and a good performance there could have gone a long way towards getting an offer.

Wait And See: Toney Williams: Not definitely a FB but that is where i see him ending up. Has an offer from Kentucky and is also receiving interest from Georgia, Vanderbilt and Florida. Was here for the Junior Day and we will just have to wait and see wether or not he gets an offer

Wide Reciver:

Possible:Marlon Brown: Is being courted by literally everyone in the nation, but I like where we are at with this one.f you read many of the early articles that Brown did, it is clear that we had an edge. Both the basketball and football programs have been courting him for quite a while now, and he has been to campus and been offered. While his most recent articles seem to indicate that things in his recruitment have evened out. I think this is partly because of new interest and partly because Marlon wants to be diplomatic as many do when teams like USC and Notre Dame court them. I don’t think that Marlon is like Chris Donald in the sense that he has an idea of where he is going to college. I think he is truly open as he himself suggests, that being said we are in better shape early than anybody else, and I predict that if things are pretty on and off the field we should land him. Recent Word is that he will be tough to get out of state.

Possible:Zach Rodgers: I think he could be our first high school commitment. I know that he has talked about Vandy and a couple of others, but I expect his recruitment to shake out very similar to Todd Campbell’s. Will be in K-Town for the Junior Day, would not be shocked to see a commitment, i would put it at about 25%.

Work To Do: Corey Brown: Has an offer and is from Pa but we are not in his early top 4.

Work To Do: Logan Heastie: Has been on campus and originally said that it went 1. Florida and 2. Tennessee. But he has now called Boston College his leader with Florida 2, we are number 5. Also from the tidewater area. Would be big if Latrell Scott could get us in the thick of things. Will be in Knoxville for the march 1 junior day.

Work To Do: Je'Ron Stokes, recently has started to talk us up quite a but. Just received an offer and had this to say"I actually took an unofficial visit to Tennessee when I was a freshman in high school with my pastor and my friend Mark Jones who played there before going to the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” Stokes explained. “I loved it down there because the stadium was absolutely packed and the fans there get really crazy. The facilities were top of the line and I met Head ,” Stokes explained. “I loved it down there because the stadium was absolutely packed and the fans there get really crazy. The facilities were top of the line and I met Head Coach Phil Fulmer who was very nice to me. I got to meet some of their players while i was there and watch them practice. It was just a great experience" Big time player and i thin we are in it.

Wait And See:J.J Suber: Kid is as raw as they come, but has some very good measureables. We will have to wait and see weather or not the staff offers (which will depend largely on his performance at the junior camp), if they do he is a legit possibility. However many in-state are a bit skeptical and it does not look like Clemson and SC are coming hard.

Lonshot:Jamal Patterson: Is a big physical Reciever, with offers from everywhere. Right now we are a long shot. But he did attend the March 1 Junior Day so this could change. Bama looks strong here.

Longshot: Kendall Kelley:The instate schools are strong where he is from(Same school as Jerrell Harris) and i dont like our chances given the fact that he did not show for Junior Day.

Long Shot: Ruben Randle: He is great and has an offer, but LSU.

[FONT='Arial','sans-serif']Tight End:

Possible:Thad McHaney: Could play either TE or DE. Has an early offer and we appear to be the first in on him. Is another guy that is apart of the Brentwood movement we are trying to make. Will be in knoxville for the March 1 Junior Day.

Offensive Line:

Possible: Andre Harris: Liked Tennessee as a kid and has an offer. Lovejoy has been a ggod place for the vols, Georgia and Auburn are 2 to watch out for, Florida is in there as well. Will be attending the Junior Day, and he is a guy i think we could be getting some interesting info from on Monday.

Possible:Kamran Joyer: Huge, strong kid and Tennessee was the first to offer. Too early to tell, but will be in Knoxville for the March 1 Junior Day..

Possible:Alex Bullard: Is a big target in-state. Already has an offer and we appear to be doing everything we can. Is part of the pipeline we seem to be trying for at Brentwood. Will be attending the March 1st Junior Day.

Possible:Courtney Easterwood: With the injury to Tait, i think he is the best OL prospect in-state. We offered very, very early, and while it is Memphis, we were able to pull Chris Walker out of the same high school with relative ease. He is an excellent athlete for his size and a top 5 prospect in the state. I think we are in good position early.

Possible:Wesley Johnson:He is a little bit small right now as far as weight, but I have heard very good things about him as a player. Being from MBA we are in a pretty good position early. I am not sure if he has an offer just yet, but I would expect one. I would expect his recruitment to go very similar to that of Preston Bailey. He will takes some visits, but i would be surprised to see him go anywhere else.

Work To do: Xavier Nixon: Has an offer but too early to tell. Has offers from everywhere and Clemson is loooking tough.

Possible:Morgan Moses:Mammoth out of Virginia has us listed as one of his top 3 teams.VT will be tough to beat.

Work To Do:Quinton Washington: Has an offer, and appears interested. Is by most accounts a top 10 player in the state of South Carolina. Blessed us with this disturbing quote a couple of weeks ago"I haven't visited there or talked to any of their coaches. They have a well-balanced team and their staff is good." To be fair this approach could have changed in recent weeks.

Work To Do:Austin Long:Austin Long is another top player at OT, but I fully expect him to go out of state. The kid from Memphis already has interest and offers from Alabama and Georgia and has not mentioned the vols. Brent Said that we are close to offering ad it will be interesting to see how that changes things. But at best we are already very behind. Will be in Knoxville for the March 1 junior Day.

Work To Do:Jonnie Farms: Kid already has offers from all the SEC powers and they got in before us. Just got offered and is expected to be in town this weekend. I think will find an article right as he returns, so i wll update then.

Wait And See: Patrick Lewis: Liked us a lot early but said the staff has not talked to him in a really long time. Unclear weather or not he has an offer.

Wait And See: Aubrey Phillips:I have not seen any of his film just yet, but unless he is a very good athlete for his size (He is massive) I do not see us making a move there. Look for his recruitment to be similar to Jared Mcgaha(sp). He is not a take right now, in my mind.

Wait And See: David Born:Massive offensive line prospect from California, that we dont know much about right now, except that he has impressed at some combines. Only has an offer from Colorado State, but has listed us throughout the process.

Long Shot: Nick Alajajian: Has an offer, but that is all that i can say.

Long Shot: Marcus Hall: Mentions us, but pulling a kid from Glennville away from OSU is near impossible.

Long Shot:Eric Shrive: Top 100 player who just recently got an offer. Says he does not know much about the vols right now, but is hoping to find more out. Looks a lot like Chris Farley.

Long Shot:John Martinez,Xavier Su'a Filo: Both of these Utah kids sport UT offers but have not mentioned us in articles.

D-Line:

Possible: Raynard Randolph: Could also play O-Line, has mentioned us for a while.

Possible:Tyrel Wilson: Vol bloodlines and has received an offer(Which could either meana lot about him as a prospect or nothing ala Carson Anderson). Is seemingly yet to have been evaluated by the recruiting services, but I have heard good things scattered around. Hopefully we should know some more as he attends some camps in the summer.

Wait And See:Larry Dabney: I am not sure that he has an offer, though i have heard some good things about him. Would be a solid fallback at a need position.

Wait And See: Deonte Cruise: Same high school as Montori Hughes. Big strong kid who can also play O-Line, bit if we took him it would likely be on D. At this point he is likely a fallback, but he has gotten some interest from big programs. Is a guy i think would be very responsive to an offer.

Work To Do: Duane Chisolm: We are one of his top 5 schools, although he grew up a South Carolina Fan. I think we should be able to get him on campus.

Work To Do: Dallas Lee: Said he was surprised to get an offer from the vols, but he did attend Junior Day. So we will see if that sparks some more interest. Has a very nice offer list and is being recruited as a D-Lineman for us. Other teams want him to play O, and he says he does not care.

Longshot: Chris Bonds:He lived in Tennessee for a short time as a child. He is interested in the in-state schools, but is by no means a lock. Is a big time prospect, who is being courted by everybody. Has the frame to move inside and play DT. Very discouraged that he did not show up for Junior Day. I think our chances are slim..

Wait And See:Derrick Lott: There isnt really much info on him, but we all know DT is a need spot.Is receiving some interest from Georgia but does not appear to have any ofers at this point. Like many we will know more after the Junior Day.

Longshot:Chris Davenport: Great player, but LSU.

Longshot:William Ming: Has an offer but would be tough to pull out of Alabama, also has an offer from the tide. Made it in for Junior Day we will know more soon.

Longshot:William Campbell: Let me start by saying i think he is a real longshot. That being said i do expect him to visit knoxville before this process is done. He goes to the same high school as Teric Jones a guy who is giving us a look, however he committed to Loyd Carr very early in the process. He has recently sated that he would like to take some visits essentially for the free food, but we all know that if you get the guy on campus, you have a shot. If he does take visits, we are on the top of the list of schools he would like to see. One odd note is despite the fact that he would be one of the 3 biggest gets of our last 3 recruiting class, he does not have an offer. I would expect that to change.

this was not from me, but from a guy on another board. As long as it is I thought it might have been written by Jake. Good stuff though.

What site?

That looks like good info. I've been looking for a listing of guys who came to Jr Day. Looks like many of these guys did.

Hey guys, it was actually me who posted this. I have been posting this board and other things of this nature on Volquest and scout. I saw this on here and thought that i should give you guys this stuff as well. So from now on i will give my version of the board anytime i update it. I believe somebody asked about junior day, here is my list of who showed up and thoughts:This was a big weekend for us in Football recruiting and i think it has gotten slightly overlooked due to the basketball news(rightfully so). Tennessee's Junior weekend can be broken down into two parts. Saturday was the Junior Camp, this was an opportunity for a lot of the fringe prospects to try an earn an offer from the staff. The guys did position drills, 40 times etc. Logan Heastie could have done this with his shoes tied together and still gotten an offer, but it was big for a lot of the in-state kids. Then there was Sunday, which was our chance to impress the recruits. This was more of the basic stuff you will see on a visit, which i believe included the Kentucky game. This is where Fulmer and the staff had to earn there money. While we will likely not hear much until tomorrow when the prospects get home, Brent did bless us with a rough list of who actually made it in:
johnnie farms
andre harris
zach rogers
jamal patterson
perry james
jerel miller
stephon gillmore
Kerry Shankle
David sims
j.j. suber
morgan alexander
dallas lee
derrick lott
sammy seamster
william ming
tana patrick
alex bullard
thad mchaney
courtney easterwood
austin long
dominique allen
marsalis teague
ridge wilson
tajh boyd
logan heastie
kamran joyer
toney williams
There could be more than this, but i think that is pretty impressive. Guys who did not make it in were, Kirkpatrick, Kelley, Bonds, Mongomery and Scott. Of the guys who did not make it in i dont like our chances with the first four. All of those guys had not really mentioned us up until this point and getting them on campus was really our chance to get our foot in the door. The fact that they could not get up here shows limited interest. If we cant get them in now when they can take as many visits as they want, then i dont like our chances when they can only pick from 5 schools. Not saying it is completely over, but it would take a great recruiting job to get them in for a visit. Desmond Scott i am not sure on, i will reserve judgement until i read another article.

As far as the guys who did show up, i have much more optimism. Everybody's first question when we have visitors, is do you think we will get any commitment's? While this is very tough to answer, i will do my best. I think we have a shot at one or do, but it depends much more on the job the players did than us. I think there are a couple of fringe guys on that list who reall like us and would bite on an offer. It all depends on whether or not they were able to impress at the camp enough to receive one. Guys i think we could get a commitment from include Jerel Miller, Perry James, Morgan Alexander, Marsalis Teague and Dominique Allen. With that group it will all depend on whether or not they have an offer. Then there is a group of guys that we are in very good shape with. I would not say that i expect a commitment from any of these guys, but if we really wowed them, then it is not out of the question. I would say, Andre Harris, Thad McHaney, Zach Rodgers(i actually think this depends other things and not this visit), Kamran Joyer and maybe David Sims or Easterwood. Now we could easily get none of them, but i think we have done a very good job with those guys and it would not shock me to see them bite. Regardless of whether or not they commit, we should be happy with where we are. Then the rest are mostly big time guys that we are trying to establish a relationship with. The big thing with the rest is just getting our foot in the door. A good measure with those guys is not whether or not they commit, or call us their leader. But whether or not when October comes, they will think about us for one of their five visits.

Here is also the L-Backer D-Backs and Athletes section of the board you posted above.

Linebacker:

Possible: Jerel Miller: Likes us a lot but might not get an offer. Made it in for Junior Day so we will see if he can earn an offer.

Work To Do: Derrick Webb: Webb is a guy that I think is getting a bit overlooked on this board. This kid is a big time player and could end up being a 4-star 250-type guy. Coming from Memphis it is tough to gauge his interest level, his lack of articles does not help that. Impressed a lot of people at the army all american combine. Getting him and Hunter would be big, but tough.

Work To Do Frankie Telfort: Would be tough to pull him out of Fla. Has mentioned us in every article.

Work To Do: Willie Farrell: Another tough pull out of Florida that has mentioned us.

Work To Do:Chris Williams: Always tough to pull a kid out of texas, but he list us early. Has offers from us and LSU, but if Texas comes in with an offer, this one could be over. The longer it goes on the better shot we have.

Work To Do: Jelani Jenkins: Talented player out of MD. Likes the gator but is not a lock.

Work To Do: Phillips Bailey: Likes the Canes, but has not spoken much. Will know more later

Long Shot: Tana Patrick: Pulling him from Bama would be very tough but not impossible. He is certainly interested in the in-state schools, but not a lock. Has not mentioned us much, but this top 100 player was in Knoxville this weekend, which is always a good sign.

Wait And See: Ridge Wilson: Have not heard much, but this tall linebacker from KY was in knoxville for the Junior Day. WE will see if he can earn an offer.

D-Backs:

Possible: Devonte Hollman: If Our staff would call him, maybe we could get in here.

Possible:perry James: CB does not have an offer but lists us in his top 2 along with Illinois. Cousin Andre James played for the vols, and he has been to knoxville twice. I would say we lead, with an offer could land him. He was in Knoxville for the Junior Day so we will see if he is offered.

Possible: David Sims: From Sc and the Gamecocks are in early. Us them and Alabama make up his top 3. We seem to be in pretty good shape, and the longer his recruitment goes the better for us.

Possible:D.J Swearinger:Strong Safety out of South Carolina Has Tennessee as his top team. Is a top 15 player in south Carolina, and likely a high 3-Star. South Carolina and Georgia round out the top 3, but like i said we are in the lead, and i think it is pretty strong too.

Work To Do: Eric Gordon:We are all aware of his situation, so i will just give you some tidbits i found. "I got the offer from Tennessee immediately. They were the first school to offer.",“I love the Vols. I love their big stadium. Their coaches are real nice. I only went to a game, but it was a nice atmosphere. I know a couple of players up there. It’s a real nice place.” . This seems like a battle between us and Alabama, we have done everything we can.

Work To Do: C.J Barnett: Still Early, dont know much.

Work To Do: Ricardo Dixon: Described his offer from Tennessee as shocking, because he has not talked to a single coach. Once again, if we do not form relationships, these offers will end up in the trash not on the fridge. We will see if the staff does more.

Work To Do:Gabe Lynn: Just recently offered, so we will have to wait and see if he talks us up. We appear to be trying to make some in roads in OKLA this year, and he would be a big part of that.

Work To Do: Damien Thigpen: From Va and does not quite have an offer, but should get one. Very good speed and list us in his top 5 or so.

Work To Do:Terry Shankle:Is a big Corner, with some very solid offers. We are in his top 5 but this is a kid who is taking a lot of visits. Should be here for Junior Day.

Longshot:Dre Kirkpatrick: Will be in knoxville for the March 1 Junior Day. Would be very hard to pull this top 10 talent out of Alabama. Same high school as Jerrell Harris. Will be coming with his teammate Kendall Kelley.

Athletes:

Work To Do: Stephon Gilmore: List us in his 5, but Clemson will be tough to beat. Will be here for the Junior Day which is always a positive. Is a top 100 player.

Work To Do:Donavan Tate: Already has offers from LSU and in-state Georgia, i would say we trail those two right now. Is a top 100 player, and should be in town this weekend. It is really big if he shows up, because he is a baseball player and will not have time to take many visits until after his season is over.

Work To Do:Montrell Conner: Just got offered so we will have to see if he starts to talk us up. He is a big time prospect out of Louisiana and not an LSU lock.

Wait And See: Marsailis Teague: We have started to make a move on both him and his teammate allen. Was in knoxville for Junior Day, but does not yet have an offer. Many on the board speak highly of him as a person and a player.

Graveyard:Work To Do:Jeremy Smith: Another OKLA runningback with an offer. Dont know much. Committed to OKIE State.

Possible:Edwin Baker: Childhood favorite, we will see if the staff gets more involved. Committed To Michigan State

Work To Do: Drayton Calhoun: we were first to get in there, but everybody is in now. We have offered and are in the thick of things. Committed to LSU.
