Stimulus Watch: Keeping an Eye on Economic Recovery Spending

Anyway you want to look at the stimulus projects (most critical, least critical, most expensive, least expensive, by state, by city, etc.)

It should provide plenty of fodder for both the left and right to throw around.

Good site. Thanks.

This one caught my eye. #10 under the "most expensive" tab.

Description:
Forks of the Road Heritage Trail. This project would greatly enhance one of the primary gateways to our city by creating an African American/Ethnic Heritage Trail along a stretch of St. Catherine Street between the Forks of the Road Slave Market Site

Cost: $600,000,000
Jobs: 65

My math says that's $9,230,769 per job for something I can't BEGIN to think this country needed as far as "stimulus" goes.

I honestly hope that's a missprint by the site. If not, my disgust is already at DEFCON 2.

I like the site, but reading it is simply pain. I'm done with it. Politicians of all ilks, save those bent on restraining government, suck.

This one is great. Did you read the arguments against it? They are classic:

Taking prostitues off the streets does not create jobs - it reduces them.

Let the nonprofit faith based ministries deal with this issue. They will do a better job and it won't cost $1,500,000.

Why is this one posted as creating 0 jobs???? Shouldn't it be posted as creating a negative number of jobs??? Or, does it mean that the number of extra police will equal the number of women put out of work???? Please explain, Mr. Congressman!

Legalize prostitution and tax it. They can get more than $1.5 million in revenue that way.

But then the John's won't have any prostitutes to spend money on. Won't this loss of jobs hurt the economy?

I don't think they were paying taxes on that income and too much of that revenue was going to drugs and free clinics.

I heard Huckabee state this as one of his arguments for a fair tax in one of the debates. Pimps, Prostitutes, and Drug Dealers would now be paying taxes under his system. Pretty funny actually.

I've been past this site countless times and can testify that there's nothing there.

Add illegals too. This fair tax thing is starting to sound good.

The folks of Mississippi dispute this is actually part of the bill. Apparently, the # might have shown up in some report somewhere and Stimulus Watch got a hold of it. Not sure what the real truth is here.
