I don’t necessarily believe that comment. I’ve never heard it before.

Peltz had a career as a stand up comedian after graduating. Roger and Roger iirc. RIP RP.

Bill Seale took over the unicycle duties after Peltz.
Yeah, I have never heard that either.

I was in junior high during those years. I used to stay up late and watch the home game replays. They had the games with John Ward’s call. They were great. In addition, Tennessee had Michael Jackson and Johnny Darden who were great players. Ward was fantastic on the broadcasts. Ward may have been better doing basketball than football.

Ward was best doing basketball. No one could describe the game like him.

The SEC was loaded in those days. Alabama, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and LSU had great teams. The F Troop at Vandy with Roy Skinner as coach. Ky won a national title. LSU with Dale Brown coaching and Alabama had CM Newton as coach. A great coach. The Tide had big Leon Douglas. Florida always sucked, but they had a cracker box gym and were hard to beat down there.

Don't forget Bama had their own King........Reggie King, a great player himself.

They did. I was thinking Leon Douglas. Wasn’t King’s nickname Mule. He was a great player. I was thinking they had a couple of really good guards, but I cannot remember their names.

Loved to hate KY back then. Robey and Phillips. That near albino PG that wore the high top Converse.

I always found it odd that CM Newton quit as the Bama coach and then took the Vandy job after not coaching for a year. He was a great coach. And he never got to the 2nd NCAAT weekend as the Bama coach (1x Sweet 16 at Vandy). Back-to-back-to-back SEC championships during Ernie’s freshman year and the first two of Ernie and Bernie (1974, 1975, 1976 - then Ernie and Bernie won it in 1977).
