Great win today. This should go a long way in getting Tennessee closer as a unit and better as a team. oved seeing Kansas go down to an SEC team. Gayhawks go down. Let's hear them bash the SEC now. We have the MOST underrated conference in the nation.

Congratulations:clapping:

our conference is still terrible. 3 teams at best are solid and Florida is slipping after beating michigan St. Kentucky and Tennessee definitely holding the torch.

Terrible?

UK is an exellent team who has beat 2 big east teams, an ACC team, and a Pac 10 team. Miss State is far from terrible with the best blocker in the game. UT just beat Kansas ranked number one. Georgia, Fla, and Ole Miss can beat a lot of teams on any given day.

We might not be the best conference this year, but we are not the worst. And, I don't think we fall below 4 out of this 6. As the year goes on, we might have claim to being 3 of 6.

But the way they talk about us is pathetic. Look at it this way.

Uconn - loss to SEC
UNC - loss to SEC
Kansas - loss to SEC
NC State - Loss to SEC

Just with those 4 I don't see how we are considered a terrible conference.

South Carolina has huge injuries. They would not have lost to that Mid Major had they been healthy.

And look, UNC just lost to college of Charlston. Kansas BARELY escaped Cornell. It happens.

THE SEC will get in

UK
UT
MISS STATE
OLE MISS
Possibly FLA
Possibly Vandy
Small chance USC

We have a good chance at getting in 5-6 teams. W have a small chance of getting 7 teams in. We have a pretty much guarantee of getting in 4 teams.

We are not terrible.

While today was a sad day for me, I must say that I am so appreciative of your program, your fans and especially your coach.

There are times too often when the person who does the right thing gets the short end of the stick. Bruce Pearl, however...I am just so happy for him and your program. He did the right thing by suspending those players and he deserves this big win!

That, alone, separates a program like Tennessee from programs like Kentucky or Memphis. You have a coach who does the right thing, even if it's easier to do otherwise to have a better chance at winning.

To the fans there today...you were phenomenal! I'm sure I would be blown away at Neyland Stadium, as many people are when they come to Allen Fieldhouse. There is still something special, though, something growing inside Thompson-Boling that is turning electric and it's going to be a joy to watch in the coming years! You were all very courteous in your win today, and that's classy. That, again, separates you from programs like Kentucky and Memphis.

In conclusion, and before I drink myself to sleep (gotta hand it to me...hard loss), I just want all of you Volunteers to know that I am a fan of YOU!!! Tough team. Unbelievable coach!!! Great fans!!! Horrible loss for me, but hey...it needed to happen for us...and for you...and for all that is right in the world.

My only issue, though...students...don't chant "over rated" when the team your chanting that to might actually be the best team in the country. Kansas isn't over rated. We just lost a game on the road to an amazing Tennessee squad who might just end up being under-rated.

Great win you guys! I'll be pulling for you this year!

You are so right about chanting overrated. It was silly to do that. It only diminishes both teams.

Nice post, but I do not get what you mean about Kentucky not doing the right thing. We have not had an incident like that before, and if we did, I guarantee you Mitch and Bell would never let them play. Pearl did the right thing, as did hamilton. I do not know the way Memphis conducts or has conducted themselves, but UK does not put up with that kind of stuff. Neither does UT, So, naming UK in your insult with no examples, shows me you are just hating and flaming.

and again, have you ever been to Rupp Arena? We are very gracious to outside guest. Why do you continue to say "separates you from UK?" Kentucky people are very respectful to outside people. Now, we can be idiots online, but the fanbase is huge. You are going to get some idiots. It shows you have never been to Kentucky and the campus or you would know we have much respect for outside teams. Sometimes, don't let things get you so wound up. Like the gay Kansas pics was just poking fun on a UT board after they beat you. I don't mean anything by it. thicker skin is needed here.

Meeks, I posted each SEC team best wins OOC and worst losses. The people on here who bash the SEC are not using facts.

Georgia just beat Ga Tech. We have lots of good OOC victories, and even though many of the wannabe experts here tried to abuse me when I said it, the SEC is better than the Big 10 this year. We are solidly the 4th best basketball conference in the country.

Exactly. Facts are facts. And saying the SEC is terrible is buying into the media ACC/Big East love fest.

Thanks man, that really says a lot. I made the trek to the Phog last year and was blown away by the history of that place and the fans there. Though they were diehard, they were very courteous. And they really knew basketball, which was cool to see. However, I must say it was nice to get a little payback...

And, being a student, you're going to get "overrated" chants whether you deserve it or not. Some dumb frat guy is going to start it and his idiot friends think it's funny and chime in. Don't take anything from that.
