I saw him play when he was 18 in a tourney in Miami and knew he would be great. But after watching the US Open on TV today he ranks in the pinnicle of sports legends.......the Tiger Woods, the Wayne Gregski"s and the Michael Jordans of their respective sports.

BTW, someone on this board attended the Open (?HillbillyVol) and I was hoping they would post their experience.

Roddick quoted today saying he's only getting better. At this rate, we're witnessing the greatest tennis player of all time.

Both of you guys are right on. I believe Federer is a non sweating Machine. Unreal how cool he looks even under the pressure of a 140 mph serve.

I was lucky enough to be at the US Open for both singles finals this year. Maybe an hour before the match Federer was warming up on a practice court open to public viewing. I never saw Roddick warm up. I suppose Roddick may have been out there earlier in the day or he warmed up on a closed court. I just thought it was odd that the foreign player was out there showing something to the fans while the native guy was nowhere to be seen. Up until half way through the 3rd set I believed Roddick had a chance to win.

BTW, the Open had the best on-site food of any sporting event I have ever been to.

Oh, screw tennis. Details???
Details of the food? Food kiosks included Indian, Deli sandwiches, hot dog place, sushi, salad place, "American" (burgers and such) and probably some other stuff I am forgetting. Most of that you could get both on the grounds AND inside Arthur Ashe stadium. They served beer, wine and liquor IN and OUT of the stadium and the liquor sales in the stadium were for all levels of seating, not just club/box. There were three nice sit down restaurants open to everyone. My girlfriend and I ate at one called Mojitos on Sunday. It was not cheap but the food was out of sight. I could not believe that I could get Sangria, ceviche, and a lobster quesadilla (it was excellent) at a sporting event. I was very impressed with the set-up in Queens.

Saw lots of celebrities walking around. Those that I can recall were Ralph Lauren, Ivanna Trump, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Falon, Rosie Perez, Christy Brinkley, Patrick and John Macenroe, J. Connors, and Jim Courrier.

I love the Open. My wife and I have been twice. I really enjoy going during the first weekend and watching the matches on the side courts up close and personal. The food is good and the people are very friendly.

HB did you ride the #7 train from Manhatton. I always think of John Rocker when I'm on this Subway line.

Yes. Rode the #7 a couple of times. We actually stayed at an airport hotel near LaGuardia and just took a cab to Flushing but we did ride on the #7 a couple of times to go into Manhattan. If I ever do it again I will definitely stay in Manhattan and use the train more.
