With all of the WNBA stars to come out of UT. Will Diamond Deshields be the last great player to wear the Lady Vols uniform? Recruiting is on life support. Team chemistry is non existing. All we kept hearing in the off season was can't wait to see Cooper and Deshields share the court together. Now we are worried if their will be any future players because of the way recruiting is going. With a sinking ship you either plug the holes or jump over board. But when the ship has sank you get a new one. I'm not sure this staff has a clue they have already drowned.

"the last" ... ? Are you aware of how long that probably will be?

Might as well get right to the point and title this "Fahr Holly".

I just had an epiphany! Get Peyton Manning to come coach the gals...they respect him, they know he knows more than the current head coach knows (not exactly saying a lot), would demand their best (and get it), would make them the best prepared team game in and game out, knows more about executing an offense than Warlick will ever know, and could recruit the hell out of this coaching staff!:dance2:

Wouldn't that be something

Diamond is "great"?? She has twice as many turnovers as she does assists..... Tennessee -Martin has someone on their team who has 3.5 assists for every turnover.... she could win games for us!!

Are you kidding? You would have to be Delusional to believe that Diamond has been a great player at UT.

If I am not mistaken, the WNBA stars (from Tennessee) were stars when they played at Tennessee. They were all voted first team SEC all-conference before being drafted to play in the WNBA. Diamond has only played one season at Tennessee (although she did practice with the team for a full year before becoming eligible). During the past year, her performance wasn't good enough to be voted first team all-SEC. It wasn't even good enough to be voted second team all-SEC. That's not to say she won't be great before she graduates, but so far nothing in her body of work would suggest she has earned the moniker of "last great player." She still has two years of eligibility remaining. Time will tell.

I think in 2017 Holly will probably get Dorie Harrison and hopefully Anastasia Hayes so that will help a little. All the rest we are recruiting have a bunch of other schools on their lists so who knows. We need another post if we get Harrison and could use a couple shooting guards that can actually shoot the ball.
Hoping Diamond will stay one more year and I suspect Russell will have to unless she has some kind of super junior season.

Also if we do not add 2 or 3 recruits in April look for another long year in recruiting. When your recruiting people that hold out to November and you don't get any of them then your sunk that year. I think Holly and her staff really thought they were going to get one of those post players last season so they waited it out. This year go after players that are signing early and try to get at least two in the class.

I didn't say she was great while playing at Tennessee. Of course she has had way to many turnovers. But if she had a coach that could call an actual offensive system she would be great. Most of the time the other four players on the court just want to stand around and either dribble or watch the person dribbling. Don't doubt she is a great player just because her coach is Dooley 2.0

No matter who we convince to come to Tennessee, until things change for the better, can this staff coach them up? :thud: Any recruit that has watched this team lately, has to have questions related to this staff's ability to lead them in a direction that gives them the best chance to play for a NC.

I still think that the donut for 2016 is a negative hanging around the neck of this program. Failure to live up to your preseason ranking with 7 5 stars is not going to increase your chances of recruiting top recruits. Competing recruiters have a few glaring negatives they can present to recruits as to why they might not want to be a Lady Vol. We might not want to admit it but we have dug ourselves in somewhat of a recruiting hole to dig out of.:bash:

I think we would have been in a better recruiting position if we had played a down to the wire semifinal game or made it to the finals. I still think that this team has a chance to interest top recruits by playing in the NCAA tournament as they did in the 3 games prior to the MSU debacle. To do that we MUST go away from Holly's dribble, dribble, desperation shot, or turnover offense. Holly's offensive scheme simply does not work for the personnel on this team. She recruited all of the players, except Diamond, so that should be a no brainier. If somehow, some way we can make it to the elite 8. The team's success or failure in the NCAA's will depend upon the coaches coaching to their talent and not some unfitted antiquated offense.

You are ASSUMING she will be a Great player with a "good" coach. You may be ASSUMING way too much.

Except that she proved she could be great as a freshman, then suddenly stopped being great when Holly got a hold of her. Funny coincidence....

Diamond's role is not to distribute the ball so her assist numbers will never be high. And besides, to get assists, you need teammates who can make shots.

Exactly what IS her role? If part of her job is not to work with her teammates and be part of an integrated offense, through which the assist stat is a part, are you also going to say that turnover totals can be dismissed as well?

Ultimately, we have to put 5 competent players on the floor who can all contribute, in all aspects of the game, for the most part..... putting 4 on the floor who cannot make shots with DD does not help. And anyway, DD's shooting percentage this year was not all star stuff.

Diamond is not a point guard. She was brought in to score. Hints her job is not to distribute the ball. No she isn't meant to take every shot. But clearly she isn't a point guard. So there's your answer. Geezers

I was speaking of a ratio of assists to turnovers..... yes i know DD is not a PG.... I will drop the subject..... it is not important!! Rooting for the next win
