Gregg Doyel, welcome to 2010. That info isn't new. It also proves nothing that he wanted the job last year.

I'm still waiting for the truth to come out as that nooga writer promised. He was going to shed the light on what happened to make him look like a fool, but amazingly never followed up with his promise.

Johnny Majors is leaving the National Champ Pitt Panthers to come home to UT!!!

Sorry, OP, I couldn't help it. Don't really want to rehash for the n-th time anytime having to do with the leaving of CPF or the hiring/tenure (such as they were) of clk or CDD, the Gruden-is-coming-to UT madness, or anything prior to CBJ. It's over, done, history. What if scenarios about things in the past wear me out.

Of course it wasn't far fetched. He entertained the idea but ultimately wasn't given what he wanted. Both sides will never tell the entire story because it will make our people in charge look even worse than they have over the past decade.

If its true its cool we are one of three he considered. Not surprised he didn't come here though. He has the best job in America. Works three days a week doing what he loves and makes millions of dollars.

I think he was stroking his ego and loved the attention. I honestly don't think it was ever very close to happening. I also have my doubts as to whether or not he would be a great college coach.

What is scarier than the Gruden rumor is that most believe that the magical coach would have come in to the train wreck program and made our players talented. With him just showing up..all the sudden whamo.. Worley dosen't throw into the dirt, recievers catch passes, our overall team speed doubles, etc. Dobbs all the sudden plays like a senior Peyton.
And Gruden would even get us to the top of recruiting
That whole deal was embarrassing on so many levels.

People can believe whatever they want, but it was very close to being a reality.

Tell me, what would have happened if gruden would have been hired in relation to this season. Would we have won the super bowl?
Close to what?

one of the biggest agents in football that I have known for 40 years disagrees 100% and laughs at the buzz it stirred.

Like you said though, people can form their own opinions and base them off whatever they choose.

He is certainly welcome to laugh at it or say whatever he wants, doesn't change a thing for me.

Of course Sexton laughed - he isn't Gruden's agent.

Yep, I remember that. Guess he ran out of crap to make up.
