Griff: growing tired of Baby Vols!

I would disagree with a couple of points. I know it's Bruce's call but there are not many people outside of his immediate family who think Steven needs any playing time. He should stick to the Clint Newman role and help the team GPA.

I also think Tabb has gotten quite a bit of praise (at least on this board). We've wanted him to step up the offense but his D was always good.

You get paid to watch sports and you are complaining that your job isn't fun anymore??

I get paid to let angry old people cuss me out on a daily basis about their insurance.......

Wanna switch jobs?

Tenn is 8-2, top 15 with a tremendous future outlook.......why are people complaining?

The fact that people are criticizing a top 15 Tennessee basketball team shows how far Tennessee basketball has come. I love the complaining.

Day Three: Scotty Hopson needs to go from bust to boom. Hopson is an incredible athlete, but he is just know learning to play tough. Hopson needs to get fearless and start driving to the basket. I'm wondering, does he fear the contact?

Even in highschool, where he was very effective in the lane, Scotty was never a physical player. He simply isn't physically mature enough to do what he does best, and that is to get to the rim and use his athletic ability to finish, so he either doesn't finish or relegates himself to wandering around the 3-point line. I expect that some time in the UT weight room and at the training table, along with the confidence that comes with experience, will do wonders.

He is a freshman averaging about 9 points a game, so I don't think it is fair to use the term bust. He has shown the ability to score in bunches, but he hasn't done it consistently. I'm still willing to blame youth.

Young teams are going to go through ups and downs. He's right everyone is spoiled. I'm sure buzz could have these guys looking like UNC in no time.

I am a bit disturbed that journalistic standards for editing seem to be disappearing as more content moves to online formats. I mean, "know" for "now"? Come on.

In an attempt to be helpful, I assume you mean this

I like griffin. But this post sounds like he is holding on to the past a bit too much. I am sure this team has comparable personalities he just needs to find them.

He could, actually. In fact, a lot of the teams Buzz did coach at UT looked a lot like UNC-Asheville. A few of them even looked like UNC-Pembroke. :)

Griff, you covered it in your opening paragraph. You got spoiled. We all did. Sustaining a spot in the Top 25 all year long, and a trip to the Sweet 16 will make me more than happy. You can't force kids to mature, sadly.

I think it's great that the expectation level has been raised so quickly. I love it. We just lost two of our top scorers and our four of our top six guards from last year, and we are all expecting a Sweet Sixteen bid. To put it in perspective, that would be similar to expecting a BCS appearance (10 teams in BCS bowls) every year in football - if only that could happen in Kiffins first 3-4 years.
