What do you think of the oft mentioned cutting of benefits for those with wealth above a certain level? It's hard to imagine that not being brought up again.

This would be a crap idea unless they didn't have to pay into the system.

i think it makes sense only because it's basically a tax. it was never intended to be a retirement program. as far as i am concerned it shoudl be merged into welfare.

i pay into the system with my income tax and i don't expect much back from that.

I don't know how old you are, but I am in my early 30's.

I don't expect to see a dime from what I have put in.

same early 30s. i understand those who are 60+ were told they'd have social security to rely on, but even then there was never a "fund" it was always a pay as you go system.

I guess it is more correct to say "I won't see the same benefits when I retire that I am paying for others right now."
