I was wrong. I'll admit I was a 100% Gruden (or big name) or bust guy. No other coach would do. I cussed every name that was talked about and I even declared that I was done with UT football this morning and started to throw away everything Tennesse I've collected over the last 25 years.

Something held me back. I saw the press conference and while yes, it was good, these press conferences always are. As the night progressed, I saw this guy interacting with fans on Twitter, watched videos of how he coaches and did research on some of his staff and recruiting.

Flame me, but I think we might have stumbled upon a great hire. The process was stupidly run and the powers that be pretty much ran the fan base through the mud like we were stupid and didn't matter, but they may have gotten it right (they still need to pay for that).

No, he doesn't have a big name but he seems to have that Bruce Pearl quality we all love. So, I'm giving him a chance. The players seem to be excited about him and they are probably the best judge we have.

Go Big Orange!

We as fans definitely let our emotions dictate our judgement. It is also shows the passion that makes Volnation one of the best fan bases in all of football. Props to you for settling down and coming back to reason.

This morning, I think a bunch of us (me included) threw a tantrum. I feel much better now about the hire..

Possibly, but nothing we could do about it but do our part and fill that stadium.

My take is the only way we derail this train wreck is to NOT fill that stadium.

And I start to do my part in 2013

That's fine. For years I have complained they were out of touch with fans and made it way too expensive for families to go to games. I saw season tickets now are at $300 with no donation now. Maybe it will open things back up the way it was in the early 90s when my dad used to take me and the country clubbers werent there. Maybe I can afford to go to more games now.

Thats your right to do so. Someone else will get your seats then, no sweat.

Maybe, but with Neyland not having been full for a game for 6-7 years, doubtful.

Especially after our new future ex coach puts up another losing season.
