It is important that we immediately back our new coach Butch Jones. I am aware that we are going to take our lickings on here for holding out until this point. I am also aware, Grudenite or not, that many people are disappointed with this hire. I understand. There were many coaches we believed we could get that had a more impressive resume than Butch Jones. Anger is not going to get us anywhere now. It is more important that we try to bring together this now very divided fanbase. I, like many of you, do not have faith in Dave Hart as an A.D. after the direction this coaching search took and ended. Don't take it out on Butch Jones. He at least deserves a chance to prove himself. VFL

Well said. Butch Jones is our coach.

He has a much more impressive resume than Dooley did.

No. I encourage everyone to vote with your wallets. Also if you have Verizon or dish network time to cancel those subscriptions and write a letter to let them know why.

This ra ra crap is getting old already. If I was hired as coach people would still say the same, give me a chance. Fans need to clearly and loudly voice displeasure if anything is ever going to change.

I'm not sure how you got "ra ra" out of this post. We are all (for the most part) angry and feel that our University is not committed to winning. After all the people that turned down the job, Butch Jones accepted it. He is going to try and win here. I feel like he deserves our support. Be angry with the A.D. all you want and feel free to voice your displeasure with them, but at least give the coach and the players that come to represent our University a chance. That is the point of this.

No doubt. Hart just let everyone know winning at a high level is not a priority at the University of Tennessee.

Oh, I'll give him a chance to prove himself. First I need a few days to mourn. After the shock wears off I'll be fine until signing day, which is his first opportunity to prove something to us.

Being content with mediocrity is what is wrong with the fan base. You can put a turd in a tux or in this case an orange tux but it's still a turd and still stinks.

Dude really?! For starters it's you're as in you are not welcome not your. Secondly, you can't blame Butch Jones for taking a better position and more money. Everyone would do the same if they were in his shoes. Blame Hart and Cheek if you're gonna blame anyone.

I am now convinced that Hart really is a Bama plant to ruin UT athletics. Thought this talk was all conspiracy theory nonsense until this hiring. Now, it seems obvious.

After a bit of cooling off, I can support what you're saying here. It just insults everyone's intelligence when folks try to sell this as a "great" hire for Tennessee. It's average, at best. The UTAD seems to have serious issues. They need to be solved, quickly.

I'm pretty sure Cheek will not be here next year. If Jones doesn't suprise us all Hart will follow shortly after. I was very mad at first too. . . . well I still am. At the end of the day Jones is going to try and win for our football program and I have no doubt that he, along with the young men that play for him, will give their all for Tennessee. I am furious at Hart's inability to handle a coaching search with any level of competence what so ever, but I would love nothing more than for Coach Jones to be successful.
