This is not about decommits, but I just read the article about Toney Hurd and it makes me believe even more strongly that we are looking at an amazing finish.

Sab, JV, Jmva, Montrell etc who have we cooled on and what is that telling you?

For instance we cooled on TJ Leifheit to the extent we would not accept his commitment, that tells me we are looking great with our O Line recruits.

We just cancelled V Hampton official so that tells me we are looking great with our secondary (also adding visits from studs like Dixon does not hurt this thought process).

Who do you know we are cooling on and what does that tell you?

I like that we did not mind Gio B going to ND.

I like that we are backed off Hurd.

I love that we felt good enough about O Line to say no to TJ.

Your thoughts?

It's been said on here that the coaches turned down Leifheit only because they didn't think he was good enough. It has nothing to do with where we stand with other OL prospects.

I know its been tossed around but nothing official on the above statement. I believe it was a TROLL who started this rumor anyways. But if im wrong I would just like a LINK of some sort. Ive been wondering if it was true anyways.

It's hilarious that you think the UT coaches allowed all of this to happen.

I read on another post here that Hampton would be coming next week to the Memphis game. So it could be that something came up and he wasn't able to make the trip this weekend.

on victor hampton.."He's heard the rumblings for well over a month now. From Internet message boards to sports sites, Victor Hampton has dealt with the rumors that despite his commitment to Florida, he was being dropped by the Gators. The problem is, he has yet to hear it either directly or indirectly from the UF coaching staff themselves. Hampton has decided that he's waited long enough and it's time to move on" no mention of vols!

That's from mid-September.

It's hilarious you don't think that they did.

While UT's coaches are great recruiters, they don't have the recruiting world in the palm of their hands, and they definitely don't get every recruit they want.

Just because a recruit commits elsewhere, it doesn't mean UT coaches "cooled" on them. Give me a break. Sounds like Florida fans...

If I said we cooled on Powell or Uko you could laugh. Everyone I spoke of we cooled on.

Bruce Irvin even said we stopped calling. Made me wonder if we knew his academics were not cutting it.

I'm not sure who UT's staff has "cooled" on but I know that James Stone has fallen down their board from where he was at the beginning/mid summer.

As of right now, I believe the only OL the staff would accept commitments from would be Robinson, Green, James, Kouandjio and maybe Stone. We can afford to be picky as of right now with the position we seem to be in with a number of prospects.

With LB, I've gotten the feeling that the staff has zeroed in on four guys: Luc, Christian Jones, Ladarius Owens (AU commit) and CJ Mosley. Personally, I think we have the best shot at the first two, and only outside shots at best for the latter two, but by no means is this staff going to give up on anybody.

As for DB, there's a group of about five or six that the staff has really prioritized are in definitely in the mix with all of them. That group consists of Terrance Mitchell, Dietrich Riley, Matt Elam, Demetrius Wright, Demar Dorsey, and Nickell Robey. After that there's a few guys like Christian Bryant, Cody Riggs (who we have probably cooled on), Victor Hampton, Keion Payne, a some others. Don't forget about Corey Cooper.

RB- Two guys at the top are Seastrunk and Dyer but both look to be going elsewhere, same can be said for Lattimore. I expect us to get an official from Mack Brown. On the second tier is probably Eduardo Clements and Jakhari Gore. After that, there's Nick Parker, Keon Williams and a few others.

WR- Some guys that the staff haven't given up on are Chris Dunkley, Darius White, Da'rick Rogers, Kenny Shaw, Keiwone Malone, and Justin Hunter among others.

DL- Don't forget about Bruce Irvin, Kelcy Quarles, Garrison Smith, and TJ Stripling.

QB- Only real guy that's still being discussed is Matt Simms, but I doubt we offer.

I don't think either party has a lot of interest there ATM. He took an official earlier this season and things kind of fizzled out after that.

was it he or Riley that Knoxville was really small? i saw him and LPE at the UCLA game, standing close and in their own little world. i would have committed on the spot. that girl is much prettier in person than in pictures.

I believe your talking about Cody Riggs, who by all accounts was much smaller in person than many people thought.

Thanks man, great response. Lots of detail and lots of good info. I am hoping for Dyer at RB and I do not care if he commits to AU as long as he is still coming up to Knoxville after Gus M implodes further this year.

At DL I think Jeffrey Whittaker may end up in Orange and he would look awesome paired with a Smith or Quarles turned.

I absolutely agree with you I was just cutting up, but They have turned one down at least, and have cooled on many others per posters on this board. I have never been delusional enough to think recruits that we are recruiting go other places because we "cooled" on them.

Gotcha. My apologies. I trust LV in saying that we cooled on those particular guys. I guess this staff is very confident about the guys they're going after. Hopefully everything goes their way down the stretch...

I love to talk recruiting!

Seen several names that have been brought up on this thread, out of all of them I am most excited about Jeff Luc, I think he will be a Vol.

I hope that they don't take Matt Simms, everything that I have heard on him is that he is a douche. I'm sure you guys have seen the pic of him with that smart-ass smirk on his face, rolling a joint.

Not the kind of guy I would want on my team, plus he is a Simms...nuf said.

After every touchdown, Simms taunted the St. Peter's sideline. After taking a knee to end the game, he ran over to the St. Peter's sideline, gave their fans the finger and cursed at them, and continued to taunt the St. Peter's players… After the game, Matt… refused to apologize to the Marauders or their coach. Chris Simms had to man-up, no doubt embarassed by his brother's behavior, and go into the Marauder locker room to apologize to St. Peter's on Matt's behalf.

Those two things are all I ever think of when I hear Simms
