Maybe. I'm not a big fan of "would have" scenarios. I remember when Dooley was hired and all the morons saying how if he had a better talent base at La Tech, he would have won big. The fact of the matter is Petrino's high water mark is finishing 3rd in the SEC West.
Don't get me wrong, he would be a vast improvement over what we have. And if he could actually recruit consistent big time talent, I could probably overlook everything else. But, to me, it's just not worth the gamble. He reminds me of the guy at Wake Forest. Sometimes he pulls great things out of 2 or 3 star players, but I've never seen someone do it consistently over many years in a major conference. There is a reason the teams winning championships are the teams winning recruiting battles.
