[Mods, please do not move this to the NCAA sub-forum. Despite what the image says, this conversation is about the Vols and the state of our program]

So this is the keystone article at ESPN's college football site at the moment. A mid-late season study of "struggling programs" and how they can rebuild.

You know who would have been there along with A&M, Stanford, Va Tech, NW, and WVa last year, the year before, the year before that, and heck almost every year of the 2010s decade?

Yep, us.

It is soooooo nice to be in the good conversations ("who will get to the playoffs") rather than the bad conversations once again. I was so happy to see that page open up, read that article's sub-title, and know that we weren't anywhere close to being included.

Heh.

Go Vols!

I feel like Texas A&M is a solid QB away from being a very different team. However, I am not sure the coaching staff knows how to develop offense.

Fisher needs to go out and find a solid OC that is familiar with modern offenses to shake things up in College Station.
Okay, Mods, maybe I was wrong.

If everyone who comes to the thread looks at the photo and starts typing without reading, maybe this ISN'T about our lads. Maybe you will need to move it to the NCAA forum after all, heh.

This is your post. It doesn't necessarily add any value to this board. I think my response was appropriate. Perhaps your thread belonged in the NCAA forum.

If you will recall the Akron game the talking heads raved about QB D.J. Irons. I told a friend that’s an aTm fan the same thing.

Why "give your all" when you're already getting paid just to be there? A&M's "pay for players" has really backfired on them. It'll be interesting to see how many hit the portal next year looking for a "better deal", or playing time, etc.

Really nice for the Vols not to be in the "rebuild" Convo. Can't wait to see Bama in there, tho. Also, I can't wait to see the first Gruden thread on the Bama boards. :D

It has been a whirlwind voyage going from bona fide dumpster fire to #1 in the CFP rankings. We became a dumpster fire at the end of the 2009 season. There was a slight respite for 2014 & 2015; however, the dumpster fire then grew higher. CHJ was hired on January 27, 2021. We became the #1 team on November 1, 2022. I cannot think of any turn around of a major program in a similar window. We have been truly blessed.

EDIT: Nick Saban - Alabama. Hired January 3, 2007. Ascended to #1 November 8, 2008. We beat that by a week. :)

Before the season,ESPN had Texas A&M as a CFP team with a chance at the final game. They(ESPN) poop their pants yearly with the preseason top 25/Same teams.Different order.Look at sos of Big 10(cannot count). You can't do anything about League games, but,Mich.,Hawaii,Roadkill U,and Omaha middle school.Easy way to at least a 9-3,10-2 record.

At the very least, let's hope they continue their struggles next year.

I also sometimes wonder if Texas recruiting prospects are overrated because a lot of Texas and Texas A&M's high class rankings are in-state recruits but they always seem soft as teams.

I disagree, sir, or madam. TAMU's problem is discipline related. When NIL'ed players perceive themselves as having no accountability, like any jackass with more money than sense, will behave arrogantly. Some kind of safeguards needs to be in place for NIL enriched players. A clause to deprives them of the funds, plus paying back what they received if for cause dismissal is warranted. So TAMU with their oil money need to get a handle on this, as do all schools, I believe. Otherwise, you'll have the usual gaggle of nitwits who presume having money is a license to assume rules, the law, and common sense doesn't apply to them.
