What are your thoughts on the Haditha killings and the Marines that were involved?

Discuss.

Despite the public lynchings by various democrats like Jack Murtha, weren't they all found innocent of the charges against them?

Yes. 6 dropped and 1 was acquitted.... I don't believe that any of them should have got any jail time(which they didn't)...But I just wanted to see others opinions after yesterdays judgement for Frank Wuterich...

IMHO the whole squad should get together, pee on comrade Murtha's gravestone and publish it on youtube.

Semper Fi! :salute:

They followed ROIs and did what they had been trained to do, unfortunately dhimmirats used the incident to change the ROIs to make our own troops more vulnerable and the enemy less vulnerable.

Have I said I would never vote for a damned democrat even for a million dollars lately, if not I just said it again.

Dont believe killing innocents were ever in the ROEs, but okay. I do understand that's possibly how they were trained (throw a frag first) in movement techniques to clear rooms/houses, but their orders were definitely not to kill some kids.

On the other hand, i also know the rage you feel when you see someone get blown to hell by an IED. It really sucks if its a friend who dies. So im definitely not judging these Marines, its a situation that you cant speak of unless you are it (myself included). Unfortunately, in the age we live in, these things dont go unnoticed like previous conflicts.

Our present enemy has mastered the art of using civilians as shields in the conflict and in using deception for propaganda purposes.

Of course our troops are trained not to kill children but the enemy has no problem at all with killing children.

Yes, i'm well aware of the "enemy's" TTPs. I don't agree with how they operate in that regard.

However, the "enemy has no problem at all with killing children" argument holds no weight when comparing them to U.S. armed forces. U.S. servicemembers are held to a higher standard, and they should be.

I understand the higher standard but at the time these Marines were under orders that allowed them to capture the house from which they were taking fire by throwing in grenades prior to entering.

I don't see why they should have been made into political pawns by putting them on trial.

A note from the family of the last guy on trial;

"The Haditha incident is finally over for our family. It has been a grueling 6+ years for all of us and time for us to start over.

The decision our son made at his court martial was the right one for him and his three girls. A decision that made all of us proud. Proud of his courage, proud of his outstanding ability to take responsibility for the actions of his squad, proud of the life he has made for his girls.

Although some of you may disagree with his decision, it was the best one for him and his family and we stand by him unconditionally.

To those who have stood behind our son for the past 6+ years, there are no words to express our gratitude. You have shown your love and support by your words and actions. For that we will always be indebted to you. We could not have made it without you.

As we begin to try to heal our wounds, we hope you will keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Semper Fi"

BTW, in another incident that happened in Afghanistan, eight Marines were killed in an ambush simply because any air or artilliary cover for which they requested and expected to get was denied because of the remote possibility that a villiage that was a mile away might suffer some damage.

If the squad had been told, you are on your own, we can't help, then they might have tried to fight their way out and some may have survived. Instead they were told help was on the way when indeed none was.

I don't mind a higher standard, a double standard I detest.
