I was out in Las Cruces, New Mexico and Hal was coaching there at the time. His stuff wasn't working too well in that part of the country. They all hated him. I always kind of liked him at Kensucky

Love him or hate him, he is an offensive genius. Took the BYU offense to a whole different level. Too bad he let his close friends ruin his career.

Did you read Tony Franklin's book?
I was close enough to the program to believe everything in the book, based on the details I know are true.

I don't blame Mumme's downfall on anyone but Mumme.

And, "genius" is a strong word. Curry's offensive players were a lot more entertaining and, within two years, three wins better with Mumme. That's as far as it goes.

I didn't buy everything in Franklin's book, but as I said, turning a blind eye to that POS Bassett did him in.

Perhaps I shouldn't say "everything," when I read it just once many years ago.
Turning a blind eye was his own doing.
