In the first half Bama shot 76% (19-25) from the floor making 6-10 three pointers (60%) and shooting 100% from the free throw line. Scoring 57 points.

In the second half, Bama shot 34.5% (10-29) From the floor making 0-9 three pointers (0%) and shooting 88.2% from the free throw line. Scoring 35 points

In the first half Tennessee shot 40% (14-35) from the floor making 4-10 three pointers (40%) and shooting 69.2% from the free throw line. Scoring 41 points.

In the second half, Tennessee shot 42.9% (15-35) from the floor making 6-13 three pointers (46.2%) and shooting 33% from the free throw line. Scoring 38 points.

Bama went to the free throw line 30 times.
Tennessee went to the free throw line 19 times.

Bama killed us in the first half and we beat them in the second half. Bama's second half was more characteristic of how they've played this season while we didn't perform as well in either half.

Fact is Bama was on fire in the first half with their 76% shooting and that's the biggest reason they won. Sure, we got beat in the post but if they would've shot under 50% in the first half, we probably would have won that game....orr at least been close to it. The 76% shooting is why I'm writing this game off as a fluke and nothing more. Congrats to Bama on their victory. They would have beat just about any team shooting like they did in the first half.

What do you all think? Fluke or not?

I've been saying all along we are overrated but I think we should have won this game if we played ever average defense at all. It was like UT at Texas we were hitting on all shots in that game. Our post play was horrific. This was bound to happen, not a fluke cause bama is talented, but were we the better team, yes.

What concerned me was the 18-2 Bama run that turned a 23-21 Vols lead into a 39-25 hole that we never got out of. That run started before the Florida game ended on JP, so I didn't see some of it. Anyway, they got hot and went on that killer run, and nobody was scoring on our end to slow down their momentum or the crowd. And, obviously, if we don't score, we can't press. So, they kept us from playing the full-court type of defense we like to play. We only have two more games in somebody else's gym, so we may not face another run that fierce.

Yeah, it basicaly took a perfect first half and a very decent second half for them and an all around lousy performance by us on the road to lose this game. Maybe our D is to blame but sometimes a team lights it up and the other doesn't and there's just not much you can do about it.

I think mandatory tv timeouts helped the Tide also keep us in a half court mode as well.

Hit the Nail on the head OWB...fluke first half for Bama....won't be able to duplicate that kind of effort...ever again.

Well, the only reason we were rated so high was because everyone in front of us lost, and we won 8 in a row. Overrated? Maybe, but I certainly don
t think we are as bad as the second half of the Auburn game nad first half of the Bama game looked.

I don't think one game makes us overrated....and i agree that we are not as bad as those two separate halves of bball makes us look.

Bama had a lights out day. the first one they've had really all season. We just happened to be the opponent. You shoot 76% from the feild and 100% from the line in a half of bball, you're going to beat a lot of teams....

We'll be fine. I look for us to get back on track against UF. don't know that we'll win, but it should be a hell of a game.

then we just need to finish stron against UK, UA and Vandy.....

Fluke!

We will just have to be satisfied with a 23 - 4, 14 - 2 SEC record going into the Tournament. :toast:
