Halliburton Moves HQ From TX To Dubai

Lesar, speaking at an energy conference in nearby Bahrain, said he will relocate to Dubai from Texas to oversee Halliburton's intensified focus on business in the Mideast and energy-hungry Asia, home to some of the world's most important oil and gas markets.

"The eastern hemisphere is a market that is more heavily weighted toward oil exploration and production opportunities and growing our business here will bring more balance to Halliburton's overall portfolio," Lesar said.

Makes sense from the statements about the future of the company. However, they have stated Halliburton will not incorporate abroad so that negates the tax break angle. Still expect the Dems to stomp their feet and make it look like a huge conspiracy.

I believe the left would have called it just as suspicious had Halliburton test marketed and researched a relocation to Dubai, and then decided to remain HQ'd in the States.

Lose-lose situation for Halliburton.

good for halliburton. If I could afford to get a stock portfolio going, they'd be one of my investments.

this is only controversial because it's Halliburton.

It's time to tell these crooks to go up a hill.

We're way past that time my friend.. That company is another one of Cheney's many scars. But I wouldn't compare it to his hunting incidents.(Never leave your children around Cheney under any circumstances.)

do either one of you actually know what Halliburton does? I'm not going to defend some of it's overbilling and cost overruns, try to find a civilian company with government contracts that doesn't screw the taxpayer in some way. Halliburton is a huge company that employs thousands of people worldwide.

As good liberals, I'm sure that both of you realize that the "working man" is a necessary part of our economy. forget about the executives for a minute, and try to grasp that Halliburton has probably 200 times as many "working men" as it does Suits. All of them pay taxes, some of them may even be union members (unlikely since Halliburton pays so well in the first place), and a majority are probably family men.

Next time you wish for a company to go bankrupt, put yourself in the "little man's" shoes. That was the lesson Enron taught us, wasn't it?

How many working men and women will now be out of jobs due to moving overseas? Most of their work is overseas...so they need to sponge off of those governments rather than bilk the US taxpayer.

As for excusing overbilling...how many civilian companies can say that they've overbilled by $2.7 billion? You get a $16 billion contract and overbill by $2.7 billion? Who is doing their accounting? Arthur Andersen?

They are moving it from the Vice President's house to Dubai because of a conflict of interest.

Dubai is the place to be. The new construction going on over there is amazing. Halliburton will be able to cheat billions out people over there.

Exactly. It's all a ruse to get oil money in the pockets of our cheating corporations rather than in the hands of the innumerable hordes of new recruits AQ is getting from our presence in Iraq.

It's like this. Send Halliburton to Iraq and let them get good at cheating so the most profitable of their businesses is in the Middle East. It's a palatable excuse for moving their HQ over under the noses of the terrorist supporting Middle Eastern regimes. Then we swindle 'em to the point of choking out the terrorists. It's TOTAL WAR.
