Hamilton has indicated to people that he is not going to make a change

If Rick Honeycutt is at all interested in this job by all means fire Raleigh. Not only could Honeycutt turn out to be a great hire not only for on field results but for recruiting due to his mlb experience, it would also be a great pr move for hammy imo.

I'm going to shoot the next poster who lists Honeycutt, Helton, Babe Ruth, Joe diMagio or any major leaguer with ZERO college coaching experience.

Hiring any of these guys (whether you like them or not) would destroy what little was left of this program.

College baseball has little to do with pro.

Anyone making this suggestion proves they know nothing about college baseball and I'm embarrassed for you.

Actually, if we got a Garner, Honeycutt, etc, all they would have to do is hire assistants with college experience. Assistants do just as much, if not more of non-baseball stuff than head coaches do and recruiting wouldn't be too hard either with their MLB experience to pitch. Plus after a year, the HC would have all the basics down.

Hamilton just keeps digging his own grave. He hires a WAC loser to coach football, and now he's going to allow the baseball program to be set back at least one more year.

Someone should tell him that the basketball program can't save his job forever.

All I know is that since Hamilton has been AD the football and baseball programs have went WAY downhill....many other SEC progams have passed us in each sport....if not for the Pearl hire he would be long gone

Of course. Hiring a coach with college experience has
really helped us in the case of coach Raleigh.

College baseball isn't nanotechnological science but it is about recruiting. Look at college coaches, these aren't the brightest twinklers in the the evening sky. Especially compared to football and basketball coaches they hardly can hold their own.

I would think any professional player who has an affinity for coaching and the motivation to recruit could do quite well. Who would you rather see recruiting for us, a player who made millions at the game, knows what it takes to get there... or Todd Rolly?

The problem with many pro players is that they had better be doing it for the love of the game or their university because it sure ain't for the prestige or the money.

I think there are pro players who would take a college job but it will take an out of the box thinker to do this. Pearl was an out of the box pick. Maybe Hammy can do it again.

Maybe not.

P.S. I got to watch up front and personal, on th bench, Garner coach during spring training for over a week. Then watched him as the season progressed with the Brewers. He's no whiz but he might be perfectly fit at the college level.

Hire Phil Fulamanure! He'll coach like heck!

Volnation is famous for.

Step 1....Take a non-Fulmer related issue.
Step 2.....Insert tired Fulmer joke.
Step 3.....Look like an idiot

To be honest, Phil Fulmer was a good baseball prospect at one time. Likely a better player than Raleigh was.

I know this will sound like a Fulmer defense but some of you guys need to turn the page.

Honeycutt would have to hire some damn fine assistants or his lunch money would be ripped from him.

Agreed... but you're just wasting your time. There'll be Fulmer jokes around until the man dies.
